Anybody know where to buy a Y-pipe for a 2011 M56x? Mine is leaking.
Infiniti says it's discontinued & unavailable, so they suggested a used one. But I can't find one.

Can I replace the Y-pipe with something else? Stainless would be nice.
We prefer a silent car (no louder than stock), which must pass emissions

Unfortunately, Stillen and Redline360 only offer a "near-cat-back", which attaches to your existing Y-pipe.

Redline360: https://shop.redline360.com/products/to ... 18-catback

PPE makes a full cat-back that might work, but it's loud. Can we deaden or silence the PPE exhaust?

VNM Performance offers one whose Y-pipe seems to be missing the bungs needed to attach O2 sensors:

Any other choices out there?

I'm in need too and honestly, the only option is to probably go full custom at a local shop. Or finding a lightly used one on EBay or a junk yard.

If y'all are around central Texas, I still have a full factory exhaust that I'm getting rid of. Maybe we can work something out for shipping, if needed.

an exhaust shop could repair the leak depending where. I am guessing the 3.7 is different? I wouldnt expect any performance y-pipe to change the volume level, maybe just change the sound a little... others could chime in

Will an M56s exhaust fit an M56x? If so, how much do you think shipping would be to Charlotte, NC (28103)?

What parts do you need? I haven't cut any of it, so I expect shipping such a long and heavy package will be pricey. I don't have any experience with larger packages either, so I don't think I can get an estimate any time soon.

I ordered a custom full cat back rxhaust fro, PPE Engineering, with their larger Magnaflow mufflers. They said it will be as quiet as stock. I hope so. It should arrive later this month. Dunno how I'm gonna get fully underneath the car to install it? I don't have a lift, just a floor jack & jack stands.

Is this the one you got?

I'm in between getting it locally fixed/cut/welded or buying a full system.

Yes Ilya, that's the one. With cats. Except I also phoned PPE to request the optional larger Magnaflow mufflers that are quieter. That muffler option is not shown on their web site. The shipment is due to arrive tomorrow.

The new PPE exhaust system is beautiful, but it's 6 inches longer than the OEM exhaust system. Notice the 6 inch overlap in the middle sections. Oops! Need to fix that before installation. Gotta shorten the mid-pipe somehow.

As always, I laid the new parts next to the OEM parts, for comparison. It's very close, but needs tweaking.
I'm curious what the car sounds like w/o any exhaust, but my sweetie says "nope, be nice to neighbors".
So I'll have to finish installation before firing it up. Oh well.

I wonder if their test car was an "L" model maybe? That's weird. I would provide this feedback to them so they can take a look at their design. Having to modify their system is unacceptable.

Hmm, I'll bet they did prototype it on an "L" model.

PPE is being nicely proactive about fixing this fitment issue. From my photos, they immediately sent me an RMA to return the long pipes, and said they'll make it right. Good customer service! Yay.

That's good to hear! I'm waiting for how it sound and looks when done - trying to determine if I'm going to go this route or have a custom fix done for my rusted flex pipes.

It's installed and is beautiful. It has a nice deep throaty sound. It's just a bit louder than stock, but not so loud to irk me, my sweetie, or the neighbors. I think it's well under the 85db limits, which is good.

PPE makes a great exhaust system. Impressive.
They did shorten the long pipes to make them fit perfectly, and they were really good about fixing that.

Besides that, I had to make 2 tweaks:
1. The front pipe flanges (between the 2 cats) were hefty, but a weensy bit oversized (too wide), so just I had to grind off 3mm along one edge to fit the M56 exhaust hanger brackets that fasten with the same 2 flange bolts. Otherwise the hanger bracket couldn't get close enough to the flange to align its bolt holes. That only took a few minutes to fix.

2. The resonator pipe clamps dripped water cuz I couldn't quite tighten the band-clamps enough before they bottomed out and wouldn't squeeze further. My simple fix was to buy a generic 5" long x 2.5" dia. stainless steel exhaust pipe adapter ($6) and cut it open for use as a circular wrapper (a spacer) around the pipe under the clamp, which effectively spread the band-clamp just enough to give it room to squeeze even tighter. I also added high temperature silicone gasket RTV for extra measure. Image

Oh, and 1 last thought...
The nuts on the front flange studs are M10x11.2 pitch, which I found were impossible to find anywhere but the Infiniti dealership (at $1.32 each). Thankfully, my flange studs were still OK so I didn't have to replace them along with the nuts. The studs can be removed by unscrewing them.

Any chance of a video recording of how it sounds? Glad you got it installed and love it!
