The engine in a GTR is designed to max perform with the GTR and match everything else on the GTR. Still, I reckon there must be significant improvement above the OEM M56 engine. However, I wonder how you get the GTR engine to match the M56 gear box, the exhaust, suspension, etc. What's the point of having a GTR engine if it is toooo much power / torque for the rest of your M56 to handle? How stable would the car be?

But mostly. do NOT place the GTR emblem on the grille of an M56! That is just ludicrous and frankly, sad. He/she should have left it as a sleeper, wait until someone meets them at a light, then look into the rear view mirror and watch the other driver's face melt as you disappear like the Star Trek Enterprise moving to warp speed, LOL.

Nice to have money. Change powertrains. Kudos for the GTR motor transplant. Must be fast as hell. I would've just bought a used GTR if I wanted that power though

Ok I don't get the GTR badging......at this point if I could afford those type of modifications, I think I would just opt for a nicely used GT-R....

I agree. I reckon they added it to the M56 to get the space of a saloon instead a two-seater. The GTR has what qualifies (barely) as a rear seat but the bose speakers are where the center arm rest should be.
Instead of replacing the engine / drive train, I'd just take the M56 to a specialist and have turbos etc added.

I mean...that's pretty freakin sweet. Yeah yeah get rid of the badges but props for the swap. We're gear heads, who are we to question what engine goes in what car and how much it cost :gotme . Sure I'd like to have a real GTR...I'd also like to have that kinda power in my 4 door luxury car. I'm thinking super charger would be easier and less money but hey who doesn't like a good engine swap.

The irony is that before it was the Nissan GTR there was some talk of it being the Infiniti GTR. I don't hate the badges and I like the overall look, with the blacked out lights and quad exhaust.

There is a twin turbo M56 out there and at a mere 3 psi puts out more power than a stock GTR.

I believe some future M56/Q70 will get some version of the current twin turbo

This in reference to the YouTube vid? Is that car still intact?

I've actually looked into dropping a VR38 into my M37x before. The R35 and Y51 are very similar chassis-wise but I never verified if it would bolt up to the transmission. The piping could be made to work and I think the front drive shafts may bolt up too. GTR's ecu would have to communicate with the M's BCM but I think that can be programmed to work. I'm sure there are plenty of other hiccups but its all Nissan stuff, it can fit together one way or another.

It seems a lot easier to just turbo an M37 or 56. Swapping a motor presents tons of problems that slapping turbo's and Uprev tune could avoid...

Or finding a nicely used Q50 RS 400 a few years down the road... :chuckle:

I saw an article on the RS 400 a bit ago, the drive by wire system seem really, really wonky. Is it available w/out that? The guy was saying on the track that you'd make input w/ the wheel and car would either not take it or change the input. Think of when you where a kid and your handlebars were a little off. That's what it sounded like to me... hopefully they have an actual regular steering setup along w/ the drive by wire. Haven't looked into it much though.
