So I was gonna get an M35X this spring or summer... but I was hoping the car would take easier to mods than it seems like. So my question is if I wait til next year around spring or summer, how much do y'all think the M45Xs will be. Also is the power worth the money, All you M45xers out there if you could drop in on this and let me know your thoughts I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

The M35 has more potential modifications available than the M45. With X model, be careful of wheel/tire and suspension changes, of course - some may damage the ATTESA awd system.

In terms of power, both are very comparable. So, in most cases, the power differences (when stock) are relatively imperceptible. However, the V-8 delivers its power more smoothly and with seemingly less strain, IMHO.

For some people, the extra cost of the V-8 makes it worth it, but not for everybody. It is probably best for you to see for yourself. Be warned, though ... most people who drive an M35 and then follow it up with a drive in an M45 ... end up with the V-8!

Thanks for the advice. I guess I just thought the VQ would accept FI easier and cheaper, because of my perception was that the 350Z had a good following for FI and sharing the VQ would make the options more readily available. I now see how many factors there are in FIing the M35X.

However I guess I will stick with the M35X though because the M45X is 08 which increases the price, even used, significantly, also the availability of 08 M45Xs is very limited currently.

If the power increases are negligible in the Butt Dyno, then I don't care if the car has to work for the money!

Thanks again.

Perfectly fine option! I'd be happy with the M35 too ... it is just that I happen to be spoiled in this regard, since I have been driving a V-8 since 1991 (two Infiniti Q45's and now the M45).

Plus, the V-6 can be turbo-charged (although I might recommend doing that to a G35 rather than an M35 ... if you did not need the more luxury-oriented insides of the M compared to a G). So then it would be much higher performance than the M45.

I sat in a G37X at the auto show in Chicago a week or so ago, it felt too crowded. I drive a Lincoln Continental circa 1999 right now and it is spacious.

Plus the "climate controlled" seats in the M are just too COOL! The G has only heated seats.

I don't even want a whole lot more power, not to max out the potential, but just enough to be even more of a sleeper. I just don't want to spend another 6 to 8 grand getting there. More like 2-3k.

I spend a lot of time researching my purchases so don't be surprised if I start posting a lot here to help out other noobs, I love saving other people from the heck that a poorly researched project/purchase can be.

I also feel like of all the AWD cars out there, the M35/45Xs are the BEST choice unless you want a WRX/STI Subie.
