Hi All,

Greetings from Canada. I am new to the forum and just bought a good condition 2008 M45X. All is well and I am very happy so far. The car had front passenger side tire pressure showing up as ** on the screen, plus the tire pressure check light. I checked the tire pressure and all tires had about 35 psi. So I took the car to the local Nissan dealer and they changed the sensor (parts and labor and taxes about CAD$212). They told me that code scan came up with sensor bad and all else was good. After driving about 15 minutes, I found that I have the check light back on and the screen again shows front passenger tire pressure to be **. I took it back to the dealer and they told me that it is because of bad main battery and showed me a test result which tells that battery capacity is low and it does not meet the industry standard. Assuming the battery is about 4 and half year old ( I have not seen it as it requires removing three or four plastic covers in the hood), and I never noticed any start up or ignition issues, I am puzzled as to how is the battery state affect one of the sensor to display incorrect readings ( that may also imply that sensor may not have been bad in he first place, which they replaced).

Please advise. I need to take the car back to dealer on Wednesday for replacing battery (if this is old battery, I will like to get it replaced anyway ahead of winter). The price quoted was approximate $160 (parts department was closed by then late afternoon saturday, so service adviser just estimated the price) and half hour of labor.

Thanks so much and God bless you all.

** is usually just the tpms still getting readings. I usually get an actual reading after a bit of driving. Did it just how **, and never gave a reading? Also seems like Nissan is charging you for their mistake, double dipping.

This should be part of the warranty, assuming you are still under it in miles (4 year, 60k). Or, shouldnt the dealer from your initial purchase cover this?

Thanks so much.

I have the car for over two weeks now and have driven about 1500 miles and I always had ** on the front passenger side. all other tires show around 35 psi. The car has about 63K miles on it and is 2008, so it will not have warranty to cover this. It does look like dealer is unnecessarily asking to change battery, but it being almost 5 year old, I don't mind changing it before winter sets in. But on changing the sensor, it ran fine for 15 minutes / 10 miles and then I had this issue come back. Going there tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks again and God bless you.

Sorry for very late response. I was out of country.

Yes this turned out to be much simpler issue. The pressure sensor was loose and hence it was not reporting pressure.

Thanks

I have had the same issue come up over the past year, sometimes I get 2 months with out an issue then it goes to ** then I take it in for service and it will take them for ever to get it figured out, they manage to reset it and it fine for a few weeks and then goes back to the error. When you say the sensor was lose, the one in the wheel or the one in the fender of the car?

Thanks again
