Has anyone else experienced a rear shelf rattle at low to moderate volumes of the Bose system? Any successful solutions?

I activated Sirius 2 weeks ago and since then Ive started noticing this as well. I'd like some suggestions on what to do also. I have my bass set at the midpoint, but even when I turn it down, it still does it.

Id recommend pulling off the rear shelf and doing the following: 1) make sure the "sub"/speaker is secured tight. 2) Consider buying some foam and hot glueing to the rear deck metal to provide some dampening. If I had to guess, the rattling is the speaker and the rear deck cover.

I looked into this a little this evening. Its definitely the subwoofer itself. When you go in from the trunk and hear it rattling, you can put your hand against the bottom of the subwoofer and the rattle stops. BUT, how the heck do you get at the speaker itself? Its all covered. In my previous cars (which were cheap) you could open the trunk and see the speakers. Any tips/info?

I had the same problem and I finally figured out how to get rid of the annoying rattle. All you have to do is place some hard foam between the third brake light and the window. The foam has to be thick enough so that it applies enough pressure to keep the panel from rattling. To make it as conspicuous as possible, I wedged the dark-gray colored foam at both sides, not the top portion of the third brake light. This should solve the problem and what a difference it made.

DRIPS is correct.

I had the same issue, It sounded like the sub, but it was the plastic of the rear panel vibrating on the metal shelf it sits on and against the glass.

You can take it in, and they'll insulate it. It's under warranty.

I personally wanted it done right so I did it myself.

Buy some foam and then remove the rear panel. But it's a bit of a PITA.

You'll have to remove the rear seat.

Infiniti has about 4 pieces of foam under there when there should have 12 pieces.

Let me know if you want instructions how to get to the rear panel.

That happens on my 2004 all the time. The only solution I have is to have someone in the backseat hold down the rear cover

Welcome to Nico the M45X is an amazing vehicle congrats.

dalap83 make an appointment with your dealer to have it fixed. You will get it handled with little to no hassle.

There are a few things that tend to rattle a little in the rear. They mounted a rather large pretty powerful sub at the weakest point. Some of the ones I have seen rattle from the upper trunk cover contacting the magnet on the sub. There are others that make noise from the in cabin rear parcel shelf itself, this is less desirable as there is more work to resolve this. I have even seen one that rattled from the cover on the passengers side C pillar cover. There is no blanket fix for this small annoyance that gets old very fast. I have spent hours listening to the same track over and over finding these sometimes very illusive rattles at a certain harmonic frequency.

I had the dealer try resolving the problem, they re-insulated everything and added even more insulation. It was good for a day and then the annoying rattles returned...my simple solution worked which didnt even require taking anything apart...

Where did you find the foam for this? I may have to shape and spray some shipping foam.

The dealer fixed the problem on the second try. The first time the tech used all 5 pieces of foam insulation that he had in his toolbox. The second time, he increased it to 14 pieces and the rattle is gone.
