M45 trunk issue

Postby nuQ » Mon Feb 10, 2020 11:41 am

Hey guys...I'll keep this brief for now...as I'm bringing my 2003 M45 back to life after sitting for close to a year.

First...when I push the trunk release on the fob, the trunk will release and pop up slightly, but then close right back and lock. I have to stand right there and grab it immediately or it re-locks. I did a quick search and didn't see this specifically mentioned, but is it safe to assume this is an issue with the trunk struts being bad? I'm betting....

Thanks!

Bad trunk struts would be my guess also.

Hi,
Were you able to find replacements at a decent cost? I also have a 2003. The dealer prices are extreme and I havent found suitable aftermarket replacements. Thanks

Check out Rockauto.com. And of course Ebay. Rock auto has them, if memory serves, for under $20 per strut.
