Well , I am coming so close to getting the M now , but am kind of unsure if it has what it takes to replace my 91Q , without me having some regrets for making the move . All you M45 people who also know the old Q's - how would you compare them ? My Infiniti service Mgr. , who has been driving Garnet Fire M for about 7 months told me to go for it. He said I will not miss the old partner .

Enough said?? Never driven one, but from my reading and research it is the true G50 replacement.

With the deals out there now, Go For It :)

I concur.

The M captures the spirit and feel of the old Q better than any other car I've driven.

The difference between an Infiniti and any other car? The Infiniti has a soul - I'm convinced of it.

Jeez, don't test drive an M45 overnight. You will never let it go.

REX - I actually read 5.7 sec 0-60 in at least 2 mags for the M. The new Q does it in 5.9 sec . , and the M is lighter by approx. 200 lbs.I even saw somewhere 5.4 sec. in a road test with motor broken in .

p.s. Yigal and Rex - The 5.7-5.4 zero-to-60 number is more accurate based on our G-Tech Pro test runs on a fully broken-in M45, even with all the "heavy" options packages.

MMMMMMM! $38k for what cost $38k 14 years ago...........a 59% discount considering the inflation over the past years.

Those that paid CASH for a 90Q were really well heeled.$40k/60 months = $666 plus interest only $750 per month.

Members seem to have a hard time spending $300/month on old Q repairs.

Just think those few will be $20k in another 2 years.

Great numbers on the M. But, its kind of small for my taste. If Infiniti doesn't come up with a large, high performance sedan, I will be stuck going somewhere else. S-Class, 745, a Kenny Brown Marauder, the LS 430 European Suspension option?

Back in 1991, I paid $33.5k cash for my new Q45 - a heck of a deal (MSRP was $39k). In 2003, I paid $34.5k for my new M45 - another great deal (MSRP was $43k). I am very happy, including considering inflation! :)

I have owned a 1991 Q45, a 1995 Q45 (bought used in 1998) and now have the 2003 M45. I definitely regretted trading in the 91 for the 95, but there is no doubt in my mind that the M45 has easily shown me why I bought the 91 Q (when I was actually shopping for a 300Z Turbo)! It is fast (faster acceleration than the first gen Q), has a butter smooth and quiet engine, and better handling.

Yeah, the M45 has a slightly lower top speed than the first gen Q45, but how often do you really get a chance to drive at those high speeds? Even in my 91 Q, I only hit 150mph on one (long) occasion - for details, see the thread on Infiniti Speeding Stories. At anything less, the M45 is an easy equal - getting to 120mph is a blast! :D

Every time I drive the M45, it brings back the same grin on my face that the 91 Q did for me. :D So, for anybody considering getting the current gen 2003 M45, I recommend it heartily as an easy replacement for the first gen Q!

Hey AZ,

Those corporate cars, the M's, you say fully optioned. Does that include Nav and the voice recognition? I might be in the market.

Lemme know if you get a minute.

Thanks,Brandon

"Stuck"? :D Those are all nice cars!

Personally, I still prefer the M45 to any of the ones you mention. My wife likes it too. She likes smaller cars, and the M45 is a much better match for her than my previous Q's (which she felt were too big). The funny part is that the size is really not that much smaller - it is just that the handling is more like a small car with lots of power!

FWIW, when the 1997 Q's came out with the 4.1 liter engines, I wrote (but never sent :( ) a long passionate letter to Infiniti headquarters that they had made a mistake "going the wrong way". They should have come out with the "Infiniti Z60" instead! With a 6.0L V-12 version of the 4.5L engine. With a longer cabin (more rear room) and more trunk space. I would have bought one in a heartbeat! :D

Brandon:

They do indeed contain the Tech Package, which includes voice recognition, navigation, intelligent cruise control, heated/cooled seats, etc...

I have one in Brilliant Silver with all the goodies including XM/Premium/Tech and chrome wheels.

I also have another one in Titanium with all the goodies including Premium/Tech plus the spoiler.

Call me at 602-828-8908 as I'm sure they'll be gone soon.

I absolutely loved the M45 I drove. It was a thrill and a half, and would be a more than worthy replacement for my 92 Q. The back seat of the M45 is in the same class as the Mercedes C-class (small). Otherwise, its fantastic.

I've never driven the M45 but it seems to me like the best bargain basement option to big import V8 out there. I love my 95 Q and I've been wondering what I would replace my Q with when the repairs get to bee too much. I hope by the time that I'm ready, they do some kind of redesign. I realy dont like the front end of the M. I read some place on this forum that they will be coming out with a new one in a couple of years. If it's nice, then that's when I'll go to my Infiniti dealer to check one out. Until then, I'll stick with my Q.

There are some good reasons why a NICO member would prefer the existing M , and NOT the upcoming ( and beautiful looking )design :1) Value - besides the great deals on the remainig 2003's , the next one will sell for about the same prices , but with the V-6 . The V-8 will be much more , and no discounts , as it will be very popular .2) Exclusivity . very few on the road . The next one will sell a ton , just like the G and make a lot of money for the French .3) Quality / reliability . The M is the last of the true Infiniti's . It is already proven in Japan under another name - all glitches ironed out . You can feel the quality and tightness and 'goodness' of this car. The post - French takeover cars ( G , FX ) appear to maybe not have the same build quality and longevity potential . These are designed to make people flock to the showrooms , and hyperventilate over the beautifull looking designs , and be a lot of fun to drive , so sales are taking off . In other words , quantity over extra quality , to some extent - definitely not over designed like our old Q . The M still has some of this 'over designed' aspect to it .

I was not aware of that, yidal8. Very informative. Unfortunatly I just bought the wife a BMW 330 (GREAT CAR!!) and I have to pay off that one first, so all those 03 M's will be gone. How long are they going to make M45s like the 03s? I wont be getting a new car for at least 4 years. We will see what Infiniti will be offering then. I'd like to get a BMW 545 but there is no way I'm spending $60,000 plus for a car! Infiniti is the way to go.

Jan 04 issue of Automobile Magazine claims that the newest Nissan Fuga ( sold in Japan ) will be the next M45. Maybe it always has been, but what I thought was cool was that they say it will be here withn' a year. They also claim that all-wheel drive will be a option. Just thought I'd share.

Just wait 3 years and get an M45 with 30k coming off a lease. You will probably be able to pick that one up for $20-25k. An awesome deal IMO.

When do the repairs ever cost $700 per month ----year in year out........what it takes to buy a $40,000 car.

I've gotten so use to spending only $300 per month [plus insurance , tag and gas]..........I never want a car that cost more than that...............but it still has to do zero to 100 in 16 seconds.

I'd love to see that 95 Q of yours Q45tech. Post some pics. What Mods do you have done in your Q? Maybe I'd like to do some and keep my 95 for a while.

New M35 proabably in fall of 2004. New M45 Jan 2005.

I am with Q45tech. The G50 is overkill in most urban traffic here, even on the not so freely flowing freeways.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Not worthy of the bandwidth, needs repainting, stock 94 polished rims [235/60/15 tires], decent Gray leather [no holes]. Two stars in the front windshield...........guess I'll change glass again in January. No wrecks [or tickets not even parking] in the past 11 years.........230,000 miles..............259k by end of week!Other than the 1" lowering looks the same as all the other Gray 90 Q45.

As a 14 year old car, dents and missing bumper paint and crowfooting are badges of honor.........and we don't need no stinking badges....................the plainer the better for stealth operations.............quiet exhaust from a 95 wreck.

If and when I get my M , I guess it will be my duty to offer my 91Q to a NICO family member .I was going to keep it for my daughter , but decided against it .( Actually it was just an excuse to keep in in my driveway ). If my dealer still has any left in Diamond Graphite , or the Emerald Mist ( Green ) , I may even do it this weekend , unless I chicken out again .

Yes , I know but close to $1000 to ship from AZ to L.I.Also , I always try to give my business to my local dealer if possible , where I've been servicing my Q all these years .Also I have recommended them to other people who bought quite a few cars from them in the last 8 years , so they will do the right thing by me ,I'm sure . Of course I have been doing my homework , and they will have to meet , or beat best price I got so far : $7100 off MSRP .Incidently , does any body know or can guess what is the actual cost to the dealer of the 7yr. / 100000mi. extended factory warranty ?

Cost of the warranty to the dealer is irrelevant to the consumer, as it's not a consumable item to be sold.

Better to buy the car with the factory warranty, then increase it if you decide to keep the car beyond 60K - Most don't.

Hope the boss doesn't hear me say that... :D
