I've read all the threads on the M45 transmission issues. I have a 2004 M45.It seems in D it shifts into 2nd almost immediately after take off. Manual mode seems fine. Is this a function of the High Torque of the engine? Can the dealer adjust the shift points in D on this transmission?

If you have the VDC off, or in manual mode, the car should stay in 1st for hard launches for sure. If you are slower off the mark, though, then it does shift out of 1st relatively faster, since the transmission assumes that you want a gentler start.

There is a reprogramming TSB that was issued for the 2003 transmission ... I do not remember if it applied to the 2004 or not. Definitely ask the dealer to do the reprogram and see if that gets you an improvement.

Oh, sorry. I should have been clearer. A TSB is a "Technical Service Bulletin".

Basically information in short documents that Nissan and Infiniti issue when they find something out that is not part of the current printed full service manual or in the owner's manual. New learning stuff.
