I have a 2006 M45 with all Factory options, and never much thought about the rear overhead and seating until I saw this thread! I know my girls (21 and 16 years old) love the features on a road trip....

Here are pics:

hopefully this isnt too old a thread but i really love the reclining rear seats and sadly mine didnt come with them. If i were to come across a totalled m35 with the reclining rear seats how difficult would it be to swap them in?

i have rear recline seat but rarely used them as the baby seat is on top of it LOL

swapping i think will be difficult as i do not know if non equiped car has the wiring already there; if it is then it's just a plug and play. the motor is in the seat.

I had reclining seats in my 04 G35 6mt. Was highly disappointed that it wasnt on the top of the line M. It certainly was very useful for road trips, even with the car seats. Nice to just lean the kids back in them, and they just fall right off to dreamland.

not heated, just recline. Its amazing how much space and comfort you end up getting with the recline.

I have the '06 "Premium" package. It came with the rear reclining seats that do heat as well as the rear entertainment center and all the gadgets (nav, XM etc. etc.) that were available that year. My kids were grown when I got it ('07) and so the back features are rarely ever used. It takes a learning curve to know how to use them and so the rare back seater hardly has time to learn how to use it all.

My car is fully-loaded with all options, including the reclining rear seats. Very nice for rear passengers, especially on a longer trip. The seats have heat controls, but not the cooling function that is on the front seats. All the controls are in the rear centre console. The seats automatically reset to the full vertical position when the rear door is opened, to ease entry and exit.

For anyone sitting in the back reading this thread and wondering what the buttons do: regarding the buttons that show a seat, an arrow, and the word cancel: they toggle, and when they are in the "cancel" (on?) position, the quoted behavior is disabled (seats will stay reclined when doors are opened).

Also, to anyone unfamiliar with the system, the screen in the rear opens/closes using a motor. It can be opened/closed from the front navigation screen in addition to the remote control. On roadtrips, I've made use of leaving it open to the navigations screen so that rear passengers can see the ETA, and distance remaining. Pretty cool of Infiniti to do that :)

Wow! I have had my car for over four years and am still learning (or being reminded) of features on the car. Good tips, Dustin and Generic. I love the knowledge and sharing on this site!

Is this just in the 45's or is that an option in the 35's as well?

Picked a M35x this weekend that has both overhead and reclining heated seats. I suppose this may be a rare package since the dealer who sold it to me didnt even know the seats reclined until the last minute. He looked a bit surprised and wanted to test them. Went to talk to some other folks about it. Not sure if the price wasnt what he had on mind, 2006 with 72k for 16k tech and premium package. The only thing that bothers me is the rear seat heating and controls are in the center arm rest. It is fine with 4 people but I want to see it with 5 people seated and someone wanting to turn on/off the seat heating.

Nice!! Where did you buy it? Do you have pics? And yes, the center console is what controls the seat adjustments but the remote can control all the TV features for your 3 passengers in the rear if need be... :gotme I had my eye on one in Dallas/Plano area but it sold... Where did you buy yours??

Minneapolis. And no I dont have any pictures yet. It has been snowing and car driven through it all now looks crap so waiting for a better day for a wash. Its a graphite with black interior. The ad didnt have the options listed and it is the first M i saw in person with these. So far I am loving it! The rear screen can be operated from front but I wish the nanny let me open/close it when the car was in motion too. I dont think i can voice command it to do that like DVD play/stop command.

Nice!! Perfect color combo... I recall being able to open and close rear screen from front controls while vehicle is moving... Try it again! :gotme
- Settings, enter
-scroll down to rear screen, enter
- it should open...

Anyways, there is a way to hack the emergency brake wiring with a simple plug in device search for "Nav Hack" and look for info on hacking your year model M as 06-07 are different from 08:!!
Good luck and congrats!! You have one nice and extremely RARE M!! :dblthumb:

Thanks :mike

I see the option to open it but the On/Off disables as soon as the car moves. I will look up the navi hack - Thanks!
