Whats going on everyone? I have a 07 M45 with a little over 7k on the clock. My average mileage, combined 50/50 city and highway, is usually in the 15-16 range. This seems really low. What has been everyone else's experience?

Surprisingly enough, that is not too bad really. It will get a bit better with mileage over 10k, but not much more than another 1mpg or so, perhaps.

I have a 2003 M45, and with 70/30 highway/city driving, I tend to get between 16mpg to 18mpg (varies a bit in winter and other months) and depending on how much I am using the air-conditioner, etc.

The bottom line: it is a V-8, and the mileage is not going to be great. The V-6 is only about 1-2 mpg better by the way.

Hi!

My 2003 M45 with 33K miles is running at 50/50 to the tune of 20-21 mpg. Same as my previous 1994 J30, which is great, especially for the V8.

Since 1989 the Q45 with 4.5 liter and ~~ equal weight to new M45 has produced 22 highway and 16 city when driven on conventional gasoline and roughly 1 mpg lower in both conditions with 10% ethanol.I've been keeping accurate record for 17 years ...18.9 mpg for my driving conditions over 312,000 miles [never any ethanol].

The new M gearing is tilted more towards performance [magazine test results] so I would expect it to get 0.5-1.0 mpg worse especially since the cruise is higher than 2,000 rpm @60 mph [of the 90-96 Q].

The older M design was lighter and had softer gearing so equal [maybe better] to early Q.

There is a reason most of the world has an annual engine displacement tax.

2003 M45 37k miles

22 MPG (per the computer) CHI-DEN (1000 mi) doing 75-85 MPH most of the wayaround town it's 16-18 MPG (per the computer) in regular traffic (50% city and 50% highway)

in the 3k miles since I've had the car the computer is saying the average is 19.7MPG

I don't typically race light to light but do appreciate the V8 to the wife's chagrin

Hi!

I do step on the pedal from time to time, mostly I95 in Central Florida. And yes, I feel good about the gas mileage and knowing that it can move at the touch of the pedal!

An old thread that I did some years ago, that has some interesting info in it: zerothread?id=59766.

Enjoy!
