I am getting into the business of making custom double din kits. Since I have a Infiniti M I will be starting with that. I did mine custom but I know the aftermarket world always has room.

Pics of your setup? How exactly does this work on a car that is so tied into the screen that's above the radio? Guess I'm a little confused...

Does doing this remove the stock computer system like a normal car would to put an aftermarket stereo in? Im just wondering cause systems like the nav guidance and voice commands are tied directly into the stock radio system directly.

That's what I was eluding too...losing that functionality would be terrible for this car since the existing system is so integrated.

Actually I did it to mine and keep all the stock instrumentation. I have the 14 speaker stock system and added a Kenwood DDX5902. I took out the radio when the motor went out. I just bought another motor so once I get it in I will hook it all back up. A lot of people think you have to bypass the AMP but that isn't true. You can also use differential line out converter which is different than a regular line out converter. I use to install radios ten years back. I made a custom harness so I didn't have to cut any wires.

But how did you tie in the top dash panel (buttons, etc.) into the actual stereo? Does it still talk to it?

Images? Thread is worthless without pictures or more information.

I can't vote either way until I see the finished looks. Also, I don't want to lose the flash card feature. The 8gig card (most compliant for the system) holds over 100 tracs and it's super quick.
