Has anybody seen this? It appears in a new commercial for the 2010 E-Class. The commercial advertises the car as having a lane departure system, which I believe is a Nissan/Infiniti innovation? The M45 is only shown briefly. Am I reaching? Or is mercedes trying to give credit where due? DiscussI found the commercial on youtube, its crappy quality as expected. But on TV it is clear that its an M.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjfzHY5-2sM

Infiniti's system is a little different, there are 2 generations of infiniti systems, first appearing in 2006 which alerts the driver of a lane departure with an audible beep. Then there is the Infiniti's second generation LDW system where it beeps and actually apply's the opposite side brakes to attempt to frift the car back into the original lane.

I read somewhere that new Priuses actually steer to keep the car in the lane. I don't remember if it was starting in 09 or if the next generation startv after that. Regardless, my understanding is that it isn't autopilot by any means and will only correct a couple times before you are so out of whack it can't/won't. As for the commercial, I have no clue what that's about.

The first system was Lane Departure WarningThe second was Lane Departure Prevention, with the brake actuation integrated into the system.

Sharing technologies is nothing new. Infiniti gave Lexus LDW and Lexus gave Infiniti AFS. Its cool when we share

I can't tell if it's an M45 but it's definitely an M.

The car up ahead a bit when they show the back of that big tanker truck? Looks like the back of an M to me.

it's for sure a M, just don't know which model though. Very interesting to see that car there, while they're trying to pitch the lane departure system
