I've been looking for the answer for quite awhile now but can't find the answer, if this has already been explained, my bad.

I'm wanting to buy some HFCs for the V8 but not sure if the 350Z HFC's will fit? I've been seeing Berks and Kinetix. Is there another brand and which is better? Do the G37 or 370Z fit the M45?

To finish my exhaust I will also need a Y-pipe. Is there a brand for the M45 or do I need to have someone fabricate the piping?

CPJ LB is a good resource for this stuff although I believe he has an M35. But he may know.

Do HFC' make a big difference? I'm assuming that you will put your OEM Cat back on when it comes to smog time?

I want to add all my mods before I get the tune and I'm sure they will make a noticeable difference with the Y-pipe and tune. I have have to pay a lil more to pass smog, it doesn't bother me. Besides I am moving to OR in a few weeks and there we are blessed with zero smog regulations.

I have found a Y-pipe on Ebay that is made for the FX45 from Kakumei motor sports. Only thing is I'm not sure if it fits the M45. Also, it ships from Tiawan.

The primary cats on the 45 are part of the header like the Titans, so you can't just replace them with HFC like you can on the Z/G's. There are no production aftermarket headers for the 45. I (and several other guys on here) had a Y pipe custom made locally, deleting the secondary cats. Sounds better and definitely feel it

Do you know if the FX45 Y-pipe will fit the 45? About how much should I be looking to spend for the custom Y-pipe?

Depends on where you go in Oregon. Portland metro area including Washington, Clackamas and Multnomah counties as well as the Medfor area do require smog (DEQ) testing.

Please don't go to PSI... They're a joke. No idea on the fx y pipe, I paid $500 for mine. Would have been a lot cheaper but I had them use flex pipe in the same locations as the OEM

I haven't heard of any bolt on cats or y-pipe for the M45

The lower cats are a 1pcs with the y-pipe unlike the M35, Z's or G's

I got a custom y-pipe made but I kept my lower cats.

I finally had a custom Y-Pipe made for my car. Overall very happy car, revs' and accelerates a lot smoother. I definitely gained mid and top range. Before while driving, after about 120 mph the car didn't want to accelerate as fast as it did from 70-80, but now it just keeps going after 120. Another thing is before while going down hills, I would still need to step on the accelerator because if I didn't, the car would slow down from engine brake, now it just cruises. Only down fall is it seems to use more gas while going up hills and maybe lost a little bit of low end from accelerating from stop lights, or it could be my imagination.

A little story. Last night I was driving about 70 mph on the highway with my g/f following me in her 2006 IS350 (all stock but while driving in sport mode), well she tried to pass me so I stepped on the gas while shifting in manual mode. As she was going faster than I was as she was trying to pass, she couldn't. We were side by side with the Infiniti with a small lead until we hit about close to 150mph then she let off the gas. Last time I looked at the speedometer we were going about 148mph or so.

With out the new Y-Pipe I don't think we would have had the same outcome.

Do you have any pics of the Y pipe? Did you already have the mid pipe and cat-back? Also you'll want to have the car tuned soon if you haven't already as most who put intake/exhaust start to run lean on the stock tune.

I don't have pics of the Y pipe. I will get next time the car is up in the air. I have the Element114 mid and axle back.

For the removal of the secondary cats, did you have test pipes made? what did you do with the secondary cat sensors?

Thread on my build of the Y pipe a while ago. Still running the same pipe. Passes California emissions fine. There is no sensor after the 2nd cats. No problems there.
