Hi team
Just joined and started read this forum you all seem like a good bunch of ppl..
There is some great information here.
I have a problem with my 2006 Nissan Fuga 450gt. 5 days ago I was driving the car and our gear box starting shifting weird and holding gears. I ended up checking the gear box fuild and noticed it was low.

I went to take it to my local mechanic for them to top it up appon taking it there I noticed it would change through all the gears and hold high gear 4th.
To get it to change back to 1st you have to turn the car off and restart it. I have had the gear box oil changed. The mechanic/close friend who owns the shop test drove the car and went fine. I picked the car up to drive home half way home I switched it into triptronic/Manuel and it won’t shift through gears seems to still drive in drive and holds high. Won’t change down gears. Once again you have to switch the car off.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Did your mechanic check for any codes? It could be a lot of things, one of them being fluid. If fluid is now good, it may be TCM, etc. So...any codes?

@nzv8fugaman This sounds exactly like what I was experiencing with the P1757 OBDII code in my '06 M35X. What the transmission is doing is going into limp mode, and keeping it in 3rd gear (maybe 4th). When you shut the car off, it seems to reset, and takes you back to 1st gear, until you go fast enough to get into 3rd/4th gear, then it goes back into limp mode. You should be getting some type of Check Engine Light that accompanies the problem, as well.

In terms of repair, this video is the ultimate repair guide, if you are up for it...I followed it, exactly, and worked like a charm!

Hay guys I’ll check out this link now. The car never through up warning lights or anything nothing on dash I’ve had the car for 4 years had it returned and full exhaust system done so it sounds like a v8 really happy with it... this is the only problem in 4 years I’ll ring mechanic today and go see him as well. I’ll let you all know what is going on

Just spoke to the mechanic the gear box solenoid selector seems to be the issue at this stage.
