I'm done with Nissan products unless corporate resolves the problem at their cost. My 04 M45 has been burning 2-3 quarts of oil between changes since 35,000 miles. At 50,000 the exhaust manifold cracked. At 59,000 miles three connector rod links broke and the mechanic is suggesting a new $14,000 engine or use at $7,500. Can't believe this would happen to what is supposed to be such a well made car.

There have been some posts on this forum about Q45s and M45s from that era with engine issues. Sorry to hear about your trouble. Did you try calling Infiniti's customer service line? Are you the original owner?

I am the original owner. Once I receive the written diagnosis from Infinity I will call customer service. I found a number to Infinity complaint department and will try that.

Infiniti wants my oil change records. I have all of them and my oil changes are within the recommended time frames. I'm drafting my cover letter arguing why I believe Inifiniti should change out my engine at their cost.

Show us the letter before you send it...

Well, After submitting 26 pages of service records proving that I changed the oil according to the manufacturer, and a letter arguing my case, Infinity agreed to give me a new engine, they pay for parts, I pay for discounted labor. I agreed. I have a new engine. I still believe that Infinity should have picked up the labor too but they would not budge. Infinity did a second diagnostic, taking pictures of the engine, I believe looking for dirt or other problems. They found nothing because I take so good care of the car. The dealer was very professional during the entire process. They gave me a 2011 M35 as a loaner for two weeks, free. Very nice.

It definitely helps to have a supportive dealer. Glad the outcome was positive!

Very nice. Glad to hear the good news!

If you don't mind sharing I would like to know what are they charging for discounted labor? Also how many hours? I am just curious it won't hurt my feelings if you would rather not share that info. :bigthumb:

I'm not sure about the hours charged, I'll have to find my receipt. Labor was $2,500. The term the engine replacement as a "long block assembly". Of course I got new trani and radiator fluid, which it was due for a change out. They warranty the work for only one year or 12,000 miles. I was expecting 3 years.

For a 2004 model year car, I think that 12k miles or 1 year is about as best as you are gonna get.

This is a very typical warranty duration for work that a dealer does for major items, once a car is out of warranty (time or miles).
