Ive got 109,000 miles on my base model 2008 M45 so I am past due for shocks. Just got sticker shock from the dealer, who wants $2700 to do fronts and rears. But shopping around it appears that no one makes aftermarket shocks for the M45 base, they are only made for the M35 and the M45 Sport. Is that right?

I checked the Infiniti parts website and it looks to me like the part number ios the same for the M35 and M45 front shock assembly, but IM not sure I am comparing apples to apples.

Does anyone have any info or suggestions on this?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

If the part number is the same, it's the same. I would imagine it would be different though due to the weight of the cars being different but maybe not...

That being said, hell no on the $2,700. I'd just spend $950 or whatever on a set of BC Racing coilovers and be done with it.

Thanks Ilya.

I think the weight difference is only about 160 pounds, would that be enough to necessitate different shocks?

I'll look into the overcoils, I had never heard of them until your post. Hopefully the KYBs for the M35 fit and then I can get all four for around $350 total.

Coilovers can lower your car if you so choose, or they can be adjusted to have the same stock height if you're into that. They will come with the spring and strut/shock all in one assembly. Much easier to swap then using spring compressors, removing an old shock, etc.

If you can get KYB for all four, that's obviously the cheapest way to go. Also depends on how long you're planning to keep the car...if you're planning to sell it within a year, DON'T invest in coilovers.
