seems like the M is a relatively unpopular model, or at least, unpopular to tinker or wrench.
this could be a consequence of its pretty damn incredible reliability (the 2006 model is all the way in the green on truedelta) or there....just aren't many of you guys

i'll probably be modding the hell out of my 06 m35 or 03 m45 when i get it, interior illumination and electronics mods and suchlike, and while the G forum has quite a few writeups from many different authors on the subject you guys only have a few...

so, is the m45/m35 too rare to mod? if i have a problem or want to do something, is there a very good chance i'll be the only one with that problem/want to do that thing?
:ohno:

a majority of us drive the 06 and up gen so if you get one of those, we would be mostly likely to help you.

Modding is about what **you** want to do to your car. Sure, it may not have been done before but that in no way means that it can not be done. Many people are satisfied with the way the car is from the factory, others, like me, are not. It all really depends on what you think a "mod" is. I know a **lot** of people that mod cars that are not on any forum and also, there are a lot of people ON the forums that may not have modded their car but have the experience and/or general knowledge (from other projects) to help. I say go for it!

You can mod the s*** out of the M... Just gotta do your research... if you can wrench, possibilities are endless.

I'd have to say, prior to getting my M, I wasn't much of a gearhead.

But.....after reading a lot and joining the forums and with some help from friends, I've done quite a number of simple things to my ride:
1. changed all interior lights to LEDs
2. switched out high beam bulbs and turn signal bulbs
3. Navigation hack
4. added OEM front lip
5. R2C intake

plus regular maintenance items, both common and less common.

BUT there are guys on the forum that have:
1. added a supercharger!!!!!
2. upgraded their transmission
3. added steering wheel paddles
4. modded their headlights
5. changed their interior paneling
6. swapped the '06 bumper to the '08
7. dropped/changed suspension
8. changed to the big brake kit
9. upgraded their stereo/speaker system
10. etc, etc, etc

there are folks on here that are waaaaay knowledgeable and are more than willing to help you if you get stuck or need a little guidance.

good luck and get one, you won't be sorry.

The M is a great platform to mod...either the M45 or M35.....

...if you go with the M35, you'll have "more" interchangeable intake & exhaust mods with the G35/350z...so parts will be readily available amongst many VQ35 forums.

Good luck with your choice...
