I <finally> picked up the current issue of R&T.

It has a comparison which includes the M45.

If you ask me, the comparison was totally bogus.:pfaceThe M45 had NO negatives to speak of, listed in their "lows" box.But some strong one in their "highs" box.

The cars that ranked higher than the M45, had much stronger negaitves used in describing them.

The only nits they found to pick, was a softer set-up than they liked.

I really think it should have been ranked number one because:

a) It got within $20 (twenty dollars) of being least expensive car even tho it offered the biggest engine and the ,most standard equipment, in the largest carb) Was the only import with a V8c) Was the best performer in the group by a huge margin.d)Had the largest interior

The list goes on and on, where as the winner the 2k3 Mercedes had all sorts of complaints about its brake-by-wire and drive - by wire system.

The good news:

The M45 did the 0-60 in 5.7 seconds!!!That's faster than a BMW 540 i with the 6 speed manual! And faster than many otehr iconsof sportiness!

(The only 5 series that made it into the test was the 530 cuz teh 540 would have been waaay out of teh price parameters)

So the M45 is not just a great value its a real winner in my book!

I'm glad the article pointed out that the sunroof eats up WAY too much headroom.

Yet another Nissan/Infiniti product I can't fit in because of sunroof.... :(

I don't get it either - maybe they're taking money from Diamler/Chrysler? or Diamler/Chrysler buys more advertising and they are affraid of offending them?

One of the local Atlanta dealers was advertising Ms starting at $36900. So apparently they've started DEEP discounts on them. I've only seen two on the road here (and I think it was the same car both times), and this is a big Infiniti town. I'd rather drive one than look at one.

Man, that's a screaming deal. Might even get me to buy new again. Hello Atlanta!

My original 1991Q cost me $33,500 brand new from the dealer (MSRP was $39,000 as I recall). Heck of a reason there! :)

In the early Spring of 1991, we had a lot of rain here in the SF Bay Area, just about every weekend for 11 or 12 weekends straight. Frontier Infiniti had not sold a Q in 12+ weeks and had like 14 or 15 of them sitting in the lot and more were due in very soon. They were motivated to give me a heck of a deal, although I did not know it per se!

After the awesome test drive, I told them the car was too expensive, and I was really budgeting for a Nissan 300Z or Acura Legend anyway (at about $28k to $30k at the time). In the end, I got them to show me their invoice and I paid about $1500 above that - admittedly, the invoice did not include the usual dealer kick-backs,etc. The sales guy remarked many months later that it was the lowest price new Q45 that they had ever sold!

If I can get an M45 for $36k, then that is a heck of a deal! Hmmm ... maybe I need to rethink my summer car buying plans! :)

If they had only spent more time on the exterior this car would have won hands down. The E320 is a nice car, but I've driven the M45 and it is WAY more car under your right foot.

For crying out loud Infiniti, get the Q and M to your design studios in San Diego!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the M45 is the last chance to own a really well screwed together 1966-1967 Chevelle SS. It is a techno version of a mid-size mid sixties muscle car.

The ad campaign is right on target, but there are probably too few of us who do remember who are still in that market. There were no minvans then, nor SUVs.

Hi, all.

I just received a neat little DVD in the mail from Infiniti with a short video piece on the M45. Guy has a fantasy(?) where he runs a short street course with a couple of older "muscle cars" and beats them hollow.

Anyone else seen this yet?

The word is out that this car is to be replaced soon (next February?). This model car has been for sale in Japan for several years as the Gloria (also the Cedric) with a turboed V6 and CVT. The market still hated it. The Japanese considered it BORING!

Just face it, you can't turn lead into gold.

Yea the M's have had the hardest time selling at all here, it was actually listed as one of the lowest selling new cars of this year. But its no surprise to the fact that people were preordering their G35's and FX's. Problem is I think the M is going to drop faster than a baby in Michael Jackson's hands so start expecting another forgotten legend in a few years.:shocked2

Not to mention that in the japanese market, it went head-to-head against the other turbocharged six-cylinder sedan: the more sporty, more aesthetically-pleasing, more tuning responsive and slightly cheaper Toyota Chaser.

I expect this this will depreciate far wose than the Q ever did! If you buy it, you had better plan on keeping it. You wont be able to sell it.

I love the M45!I was drooling all over a beautiful bergundy one in the showroom. It had the dark grey wood grain.I was impressed with the stance of the car.A bit out of my price range, although the G35 that I want is 37K so 39k isnt muss\ch off from that.;)

ROFL! Yeah, I was a bit out of it for a while.

I plan to go for a test drive in an M45 soon (maybe this weekend) just to see if it fits in our car buying plans for the summer. As mentioned elsewhere, I have been thinking of a 350Z (my wife wants the two door G35), but I wanna check out the M45 too, just in case! (The last time I was in a market for a 300Z, I ended up with a 1991 Q45 instead!) :)
