I am thinking about buying a 2013 M37X Sport and wanted to find out how the car handles in the snow.

I live in MN and although we don't get a ton of snow, I don't want to buy a car that will paralize me in the winter.

Thanks for feedback!

Handles great in the snow, the traction control works very well. You should also think about tires though. All season vs summer tire.

Thank you - The car has all season. Do you think they need winter tires?

Nah, I don't think winter tires are worth it unless you are in the snow much more than not in the snow. All seasons should do the trick and keep you happy on warm days.

Part of the reason I bought the M37x is the "intelligent awd" and the curb weight. Between the two I should have a easy winter in the northeast...or at least better than when I still had my IS300.

God's greatest gift to snow. I love driving it in snow.

I've never driven the 'X' version of this car. Is there a noticeable difference in all driving conditions. If you get say an M37S or M37 with the technology package would that almost be the same?

Not sure I understand your question...You can get M37S or M37S-X with the tech package. AWD isn't influenced by the tech package. Tech package is adaptive cruise control, lane departure, blind spot monitoring and so on.
S-sport package is better brakes, suspension, paddle shifters, seats and so on so driving would be different than non-S.

Hmmm ... you could get by with all-seasons, depending if you actually drive in deep snow or not at any point during the winter.

But, with a relatively expensive car, even if it is AWD, if I took it out in snow conditions at all, I would certainly get a set of cheap wheels and put on snow tires at all four corners for the winter.

You would be amazed at how much of a massive difference there is with snow tires, even with inexpensive ones. In MN, I would expect and plan to do this if I lived there. :yesnod

Regardless, as long as you are not in much snow during the season, this is not a strict requirement - just worth it, IMHO. My reasoning being that all-seasons are not as good as summer tires during the summer and not as good as winter tires during snowy winter - I would prefer to maximize the performance of the tires. :)

Okay. I understand now. I thought it was dependent upon that. I'm not well-versed in that realm of things but it makes sense to me now. The M37S-x must be a gas guzzler! Do you have the Tech Package @ wideopn11? If so, is it worth it?

Nope, no tech package. When I was talking to the dealer about a car that had the tech package and he was telling me about all the beeps and warnings...my first questions was "how do I turn all the beeps off" which I guess defeats the purpose so I opted for a different car with no tech package.
There is no difference in engine performance or difference in gas mileage between an M37 vs M37S. Adding X to either model will slightly lower gas mileage. I really wish the S version added some power or better tuning like on the IPL G37 which gets 348 hp vs 330 hp out of the same engine. It's only ~20 more hp but still, I feel like a S-sport package should offer more than just better handling. I added eibachs and 20" sport wheels to my M37 and its pretty close to an S model. All I need is bigger brakes and maybe paddle shifters. Also when I bought my 2012 they didn't offer the S package with AWD. In 2013 they did

I could not agree more. When you opt for an S model you expect maybe a larger wheel size, some subtle change in outside / inside trim and of course the S badge. But it should go beyond the basics of a stiffer ride, etc. Infiniti should provide some sort of up-rev, a CAI or at least aluminum intakes, a throatier exhaust system, and maybe even off-set wheels. Of course that raises the retail price of the S, but at least you get more than the minimum expectation and it's a true upgrade instead of the same car with just cosmetic changes.
eg: Audi S, Merc black edition, Dodge HEMI, etc.

one more thing you get with S is the 4 way active steering. Not sure if one would notice the difference in handling, but it's there.
