I have a 2012 M37X. I didn't drive it at all yesterday, or today. Tonight, I tried to start it, and I got a lot of clicking and the lights were pretty dim. Dead battery, I figured. I hooked it up to my other car to attempt to jump it. Nothing. I put a charger on it for an hour. After about an hour, the charger said it as charged. Still won't do anything. When I open the door, no lights come on. When I push the start button, it clicks sometimes. Sometimes nothing. It's been very cold, and I still figure battery, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts? Is there something I'm missing here?

That only happened to me once on my 07 M35. Car was perfect one day and the next - completely titz-up. First couple of tries, clicking with dimmed lights on the dash, then no lights on the dash, doors, etc and no clicking sound. Road Service came to the house and even they could not get it started. I noticed the battery was getting VERY warm during the jump starting but didn't really get alarmed, thinking that was normal. I called my service rep at the dealer - he sent a tow truck and a loaner car and the tow truck took my car and the loaner driver to the service bay.
Turns out, the starter motor did not fully disengage and drained the battery, blew the main fuse on the battery cable, partially melted the fuse link cable, and basically killed any chance of starting the engine.
All that happened with no warning lights, no sounds, and no indication the starter motor was still active. The dealer had to replace the starter, the fuse link cable and the fuses, and replace the battery. Luckily, I had a warranty through CarMax that covered everything but the new battery, saving me hundreds of dollars.
Hope that is NOT what happened to you. Maybe check the fuses in the battery link cable (if your car has one).

Welcome to the forum, albeit under crappy circumstances.

I'd first take your battery to a local auto shop and have them test it. That's the easiest thing to do. To me it sounds like battery too and hopefully nothing like Larz experienced.

Basically cold weather is putting your battery under significant load - might be so far gone that it can't be jumped or charged up.
My guess is that once you put a new battery in, everything will be good to go...I had almost the same problem, a few years ago and problem was solved once I got a new battery.

With the cold weather in the past few days, my car has been having a harder time, I can hear it struggle to start up, so I bought an external battery charger and topped it off - NOW, no problems.

I have sort of the same issue today. All lights and sounds work, except for the lock/unlock button on each of the front door handles. When I push the start button, all I get is a click. My wife has a QX56 and the same thing happened to her. The AAA guy somehow reset the anti theft system so the car could be started. Does anyone know how to do that? This happened to me 4 months ago in the M37x, and after letting the car sit for 2 days it started. Is this just an issue with the 2012 models? Huge pain in the butt.
