Oh, and I'd like to add that yes, the RAS motors from earlier models seem to be less prone to failure compared to the units in the 2011+ Ms. If I were to have a 4WAS issue on my M56 and the problem was narrowed down to the rear motor/actuator, I would replace it with one from a 2006-2010 M35 or M45 sport...or any other as long as the price was right, and they have a proven track record for reliability.
Hello! Having same issue with my 2012 M37s, replaced abs unit according have only two codes, didn’t help, took to the dealership and was told rear rack needs to be replaced. So I found and bought just a motor from g37 (same part number as q60). Here is a question now, do I need to reprogram or relearn any sensor after replacing motors or just plug new one and go? Thank you!iamman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 10:38 amI have a 2013 Infiniti m37S with 144000 miles. The 4WAS light and TSS lights came on a few months ago. Intermittent at first, then constant, no cruise control nor any Driver assist functions at all. After checking connectors, splicing wires and cleaning the rear actuator motor, i finally took it to Christian Brothers in Norman OK. They advise me that the motor was shorting out and the recommended repair was to replace the Rear 4WAS with a new part ($6k) or a rebuilt unit ($3500).
I was able to purchase a complete rear active steering actuator part #55705-JK01B on eBay for $225. Although, the item was for a later model Q60, the actuator motor was identical in bolt pattern4WAS Motor.jpg and connector. The faulty motor was the issue.
Happy to report, my M37S is back to peak performance, all systems "GO". I am going to take it in to verify the wheel alignments as a precaution for the health of my tires.
Update! So actuator was from g37 IPL and was had too, sent it back to seller and got my refund, was looking for a while and found whole rack for $700, bought it, decided not to install it and just connect first and lights didn’t turn on, replaced rack, did wheel alignment, everything is working now, need to get used to blind spot indicators and lane keeper warning . Thinking to sell it and get base model
do you remember what 2 codes you had.egor4ik1989 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 12:58 pmHello! I am not sure about the "Free All" oil. That may have been a temp fix. I replaced the actuator and the steering angle sensor cable then recalibrate it to the actuator.iamman wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 6:00 amMy 4WAS lights came back on about 3 weeks ago. I was able to take the actuator motor apart and use "Free All" penetrating oil to free up the motor bearing. The motor shaft was hard to turn. It spends freely now and problems and warning lights "OFF". It took me about 30 minutes.
