Hey all,im looking into battery options and curious to see what others will come up with?
I own a 2011 and havent replaced battery yet.after my car sits for 4 days or more.its hard to start right up.not sure if warrenty covers a battery so i guess ill just buy the best available? My battery looks brand nee.but probably has seen better days.

I was looking at the highest priced diehard battery since its made in america.

Interstate and the all mighty optima yellow/redtop batteries are made in mexico. And dont provide the power they use to putout.did some research and this all happend like 5 or 6 yeats ago.as well as my neighbor has gone to 2 in the last 3 years in his audi and doesnt have a system .just stock audi.

So diehard? Or yellow top duralast.which i have in my lifted winter beater jeep cherokee xj.

Any help would be much appreciated in picking out a new battery for the M.

yes the warranty covers batteries. Take it to the dealer. You may get a new one for free

I use to prefer Sears Diehard, but given Sears' financial woes, I'd go with the Duralast sold by AutoZone, in case there's ever a warranty issue. If you go with Sears, I believe they have a platinum line which are Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries. AutoZone, Advance, and (many) Sears batteries are all made by Johnson Controls, however the quality will vary due to the specs of the company they're made for.
Johnson Controls manufactures batteries for the following private labels:
Interstate Battery; Die Hard Battery; Duralast Battery; Kirkland Battery; Everstart Battery; Prostart Battery

Johnson controls also makes some or all of these batteries as well...
Acura, Advance Auto Parts, Autocraft, Western Auto, Tough One, Alliance, American Hardware, Ames, Varta, Blains Farm & Fleet, Battery Alliance, Bosch, Carrefour(Europe), Champion, Amara Raja Batteries LTD (Joint venture with Johnson Controls India). Varta, Optima Batteries, LTH, and Heliar are all battery manufactures owned by Johnson Controls.

Johnson Controls supplies Ford Motor company, Diamler Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Isuzu with original equipment batteries. So next time you go and buy a battery, or an automobile chances are its battery was made by Johnson Controls.

I'm curious. Did you mean to say you only want a battery that is made in America? Even if it says "made in America" you have no idea which country provided the parts or pieces to the American maker. Your car was built in Japan, the fuel could be from crude that can come from other countries, and chances are you tires are from Korea, etc. Why would it be important for the battery to be 100% American?
The red top battery provides between 700 - 800 CCA depending on which model your car requires. Die Hard is probably in the same range. I had my battery installed at the dealer so I imagine it was probably from Johnson Controls.

So the two choices are diehard or duralast? Both batteries are made by the same company, Johnson Controls.

With so many factors involved with how a long a battery lasts (alternator, current draw, ambient temp) it's hard to determine why your neighbor's battery died. You seem to be totally against Optima (which I ran in my Q for 8 years and was still strong when I sold it) and totally for Diehard or Duralast. I guess you have to make a decision and live with it. I had to replace the battery in my M56 and I put an Optima yellow top in. I haven't been let down yet by Optima.

Get one with a warranty that you can have replaced locally with little fuss. I replaced the stock battery in my car with a O'Reily Super Start Platinum AGM battery.

I was a Optima battery user for 10+ years. Mostly because I liked the way they looked under the hood. The last few did not last nearly as long as the others and they are not as easy to find (and get warranty replaced) anymore. So I switched to a good battery that will be easy to replace close to home, or anywhere really.

I've been a Sears DieHard Gold fan for decades, but the latest few DH batteries were poor quality and did not last like previous ones. Perhaps it's the inexorable march to the bottom? Profits above quality. Grrr. Besides, Johnson Controls seems to make all the usual brands, nowadays, so there's no real choice. I want the strongest battery that will perform in cold weather, and last 5+ yrs, and provide ACC power for 2+ hrs w/o killing engine start ability. Seems a simple request.

Q1: Is AGM technology really any better than containing pure liquid H2SO4?
Q2: What exactly is size 110D26L anyway (perhaps a Japanese standard)? Is that same as BCI Group Number 34R, 24F 27F, 64, or something else?
Q3: What's the biggest battery that will fit inside the M?

According to Consumers Reports testing the best buy for the 35 size battery is the Everstart Maxx 35. They have two versions one for northern climates and Southern climates. You can get it at Walmart.

The top-of-the-line Interstate (non AGM) is what I have in my car now - it is an MTP-24.

Still went out almost as quick as the OEM battery the last one though, so I plan to see how well this one and give them a harder time if it fails before the 6 year warranty period.

I have a 2012 M37 and the battery died a few months ago, just inside the four year warranty (car sold in early fall 2011). Took it to the dealer, and according to time/mileage, I probably should have paid for 50% of the quoted $200 price. I had the car detailed while I was there, and they didn't charge me anything for the battery.

I think four years is a pretty terrible run for an OEM battery, though the dealer told me it was typical for these cars. I put a Die Hard Platinum AGM in my truck probably five years ago (then about $180, now about $225). I had the intention of buying a winch and wanted a bigger battery for it, but never did. The truck sits a lot, sometimes weeks between uses, and I've never had any hesitation starting it. It receives a fairly rough ride, physically, on and off road, but the electrical load isn't what the Infiniti puts on it. I do occasionally run dual air compressors to fill a tank and big tires, which is about a 40A load.

All that said, if this OEM battery dies in four years and it's on me to replace it, I'll put one of those big DH Platinum batteries in there. The Optima batteries used to the poster child awesome battery in the off-road community, but lots of people reported problems with them, and they were eventually relegated to show pieces not worth much more than a bottom dollar option. No idea if any of this is relevant anymore, as I'm working on 5+ year old scuttlebutt.

Ah, yes, that is the one that I just added (an MTP-24) - the previous one also died sooner than I liked ... :(

I've have had Bosch, interstate, Cat, (catipiler), Icebreaker 1000 (the best) they all crap out way to soon. I'm going down this road soon myself and I'm doing interstate cuz they have a great noon prorated policy. The Ice breaker lasted the longest with a massive after market stereo. That was 25 yeasts ago. Nothing like that now.

Always something

I had an Interstate (whatever is the top model) and it lasted pretty much the warranty period. I've also used Napa batteries with good luck.

The last autozone gold battery I got had a 8 year Warren when I bought it but it lasted 4. When I took it in for exchange then they only offered something like a 6 year Warren and they wouldn't honor the 8 year prorated so basically they only offered like 20 bucks towards the new one so I went with napa.

Any brand you go with just get the top of the line model. It always last longer and has more ca/cca/reserve, ect. There will always be a dud that crap oit quicker though so it's hard to judge unless you go through a lot of them.

If you have an after market subwoofer / amp set up, and you are going through batteries quickly it may be due to amp draw...I would hope you are using stiffening capacitors in line with your amp. Also try locating another power cell or battery dedicated for the system. Air compressor shouldn't draw too much but if you couple it with a BIG AMP that will kill batteries faster than anything.
Here are some pictures of My maxima, I have had Air ride and multiple Amps in that car and I swear by Kinetik power cells. Image
Couldn't find any pics of my trunk finished with the compressor and air tank, but here's what a 2002 maxima looks like on air (before paint)
Image here is a picture of the Kinetik main power cell (instead of normal AGM Battery) Image

Kinetik is a great resource, they make everything, AGM Batteries, Power Cells, Lead base, Gel Cell and even marine and powersports batteries. Take your pick :dblthumb: http://kinetikpower.com/our-products/ If you want to just replace your factory battery (710-725 CCA) I would suggest the closest match APP30R Kinetic Phantom Lithium (600 CCA). I know your saying but that's 110-120 less CCA why is it better??/ :wtf2: read this -->https://www.batterysystems.net/brand/kinetikph/

I replaced my 350z battery with an everstart maxx and sold the car after 4 years of having the battery. it was working great even with my JL amp and 2 10" jl subs. So I just replaced my m37 battery with an everstart maxx as well. no shame in buying wal mart batteries haha. they have an awesome 3 year free replacement + 2 year pro-rated warranty. I have no doubt that it'll last 5 years.
