Hi all,

This is my first post, however I've been reading these threads for about a month now. I have a new 2012 M37S that I'm looking to upgrade. Honestly, I don't see many M37 owners on here, however I'm hoping some of you have the same interests.

Has anyone upgraded their exhaust yet? I absolutely love the Nissan 370Z sound and was hoping the M would be similar, but it's lacking punch. I also don't see any kits on the market yet, so I may just have to have my local exhaust shop build one. Any recommendations on mufflers that complement these cars?

Thanks!

Welcome to NICO!

There aren't a WHOLE lot of people out there modifying their brand new M37s, so your best bet would probably be the local exhaust shop. Are you looking to get an entire system made- say so you can unbolt your factory one and bolt this one up? Or are you looking to just cut the factory mufflers off and weld something else on there?

Another option (which may be super loud and obnoxious) is to wire in an electric exhaust cutout that dumps before the mufflers... that way it can be quiet when you want, and vocal when the time is right ;)

Seems to be very little aftermarket stuff stateside, but i know there are several options in the Japanese market.

Here is one exhaust option that i found: http://autostyle-usa.com//?pkey=&info_d ... rl=y51fuga

I've been patiently waiting for some of this stuff to arrive stateside!

its not just exhaust either, they seem to have quite a bit of aftermarket parts in JP. Sad thing is shipping costs more then the product itself! Back to patiently waiting...

Stillen makes an M Series Exhaust. Sent them an e-mail to see if it will fit my M56x, but they never replied.

Wow the OP is still here waiting, lol

I'm going to most likely purchase a G37 sedan exhaust and have my local race-car fab guy extend it for my M. Not sure which company I'm going with yet, will likely do this after snow season ends here in the North East

Top Companies with the G guys seems to be:

Fast Intentions
ARK Grip
Tanabe

Don't hold your breath. Not enough people in the States modding these for it to be profitable, I suppose. The Q50 Stillen exhaust is already out, they know people will mod that car.

I just did a muffler delete on my 2013.

All I can say is wow! I love it almost no drone at all, only when you start to accelerate.

I will get my videos on YouTube tomorrow so people can hear it.

Much better than the stillens IMO

I would say it it quite noticeable.

With stock tune it was a little lacking on the bottom end but top end she winds out hard.

With the tune I feel it is a major difference. I hope to get it on the dyno in the coming weeks. If it made a difference then the next step is a new Y pipe.

Recently added Stillen's to my M as well, they are VERY quiet, which I like. I just have the axle-back though, don't really want the car loud. Previously I ordered Invidia 370z test pipes, but I'm not sure I'll install them now. Might not.

congrats on the Stillen axle back..

I wanted to add them, but when another member on FA noted how quiet they were, I decided to pass. However, I am currently sitting on the fence and thinking about grabbing a set of their intakes.....

The Stillen exhaust looks good. You say it's quiet? Is it quieter than stock at idle, normal revs, full throttle?

I'm still quite interested in the Stillen cat-back. I'm concerned when I read "VERY quite". How quite? Stock quite or a nice, solid sound? I'm not looking for a muffler-deleted V8 roar, but I do want a nice sound under full throttle with no highway drone.

@TwinsDad, you mentioned a tune, but no further info. Did you have a custom tune made or a programmer? I'm also quite interested in this aspect, but have found little info online about M37 programmers/tuning.

Thanks!

Without hijacking this thread, please allow me to ask a question.
It seems most peeps upgrade the exhaust for some added HP and also for a deeper, throatier sound. But I never see anyone mention products like MagnaFlow which seems to be readily available now and I assume for any model car. Is that because MagnaFlow is not a good brand? Is it because they don't have as well constructed parts?
Just wondering coz I see them using that brand quite often on Overhaulin' when they restore cars and they sound good to me.

I think most members are looking for straight bolt on.
I personally don't like any direct bolt exhaust out there for the M so I am going the custom route, it will be the way/look that I want and cheaper. :dblthumb:

When I mention the Stillen being quite, I would define it this way: Louder than stock, but not by much. Sound is 'deep' and has a definite lower tone than stock. From outside the car it sounds almost the same to me, loud on a cold start and quiet when warmed to operating temp. From inside it is quiet while running but has a slight 'bass' to it or tone that isn't audible on the stock system.

I can't really give a good elaborate current comparison because I installed Takeda intakes recently so I hear them in concert with the exhaust now. But above is how I perceived them before the Takeda's.

Remember I have only the Axle back section, I suggest those who want more sound get the after-cat back. I did this mod for appearance.

Larz I believe the Stillen mufflers are actually MagnaFlow 14829 Mufflers
