I'm going to get the Oracle Colorshift 2.0 Halos installed soon, and could use some advice. Below is a link to the specific item for reference.

The control box for them seems quite large, and I was wondering if anybody out there has experience with them as to where a good place to mount it would be??

I spoke to the rep where I'll get the install done and he showed me another "more popular" (and much smaller) colorshift control box with remote that can be used with the Oracle Halos and do the exact same effects. Not sure if I want to pony up extra $$, but may be worth it to get the smaller control box. Thoughts?? :help:

They have to bake your headlights to open them, doesn't seem like a one day project. Will you lave your car there for a couple days? Also how much do they charge for the install? Might as well have them paint the inside of the light housing if they have it open and you don't have a Sport model.

It's a 4-5 day project and I'll leave my car there while I head out on vacation. The install is $450. I went to multiple places all over town, and spoke to custom headlight places over the phone in other states, and these people were knowledgeable, and on point with all of their info and advice. I feel pretty good about them doing the work.

I considered painting the inside of the housing, but the car is Platinum Graphite, and it's chromed out everywhere.. trim, door handles, etc.., so the chrome housing matches and looks good. Even if I change the wheels to a gunmetal gray later it will still look good. This is the look I'm going for:

Post some pics and dimensions for the two control boxes so we can make some recommendations.

Smaller Colorshift Control Box (their suggestion): L = 6.5", W = 3.5", H = 1.75", 5 oz weight
Oracle Colorshift 2.0 Control Box (included): L = 6.5", W = 5", H = 5.5", 10.6 oz weight

In the picture, basically the top control box (black bar) versus the bottom control box (multibutton).

Thanks, Debonair.

I was going to do this to my m37.but then saw it in person on another car. And I felt it cheapened the look of the car.but good luck to you. Its about what the owner likes ,not what people like.

If you do not need access to the large control box on a regular basis (since it has a remote) I would stick it under the hood or in the unused fender space behind the wheel well covers. Somewhere out of the way and out of sight. That unit has a lot of buttons.

Otherwise the smaller, more subtle control box will probobly fit inside the left side underhood cubby, where the brake fluid e resevoir is. I think there is room in there but I have not been under the hood of my M for a bit. If not it should be able to tuck up in lots places given its size and shape.
