I have a 2006 M35X, and I'm planning on buying winter tires for it next week. I have 19" rims on the car, so I need a 245/40R19 tire, which limits my choices. From my research, its a toss up between the Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 ($233 ea at Tire Rack + $50 rebate) and the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 ($248 ea at Tire Rack). I'm leaning right now towards the Dunlop. Does anyone have any experience with either of there tires, or a recommendation for an option I may have overlooked? I live in the Seattle area and we get an occasional snow and a lot of rain, so I don't need a "heavy duty" snow tire, just something better suited for the winter weather and temperatures than the Potenza's I currently have (which are summer tires). Thanks...

I can't comment about either tire (I use Nokian WR all-weather tires here in Minnesota), but would suggest you get some 18" steel wheels and 18" winter tires as being a better idea for both traction and convenience.

I have those Dunlops; and I like them, they perform well in the winters here in Calgary; I did however pay a good deal more than what you show as the costs; I guess the price must have dropped on them;

These are for the record my first set of winters for the car (only winters thus far) so I dont know how other tires worked on this car compared to these; but they sure beat the all season Good Year RSA that was on there the first winter.

Post Script: Whoops, I wrote the below, but then looked @ the Tire Rack inventory and apparently they don't make the Conti in your size; boo. They are however offering the really squirrelly tramlining Goodyear "All Season" RSA's for $86.00 US per tire-it's a special offer...

I put a set of ContiExtremeContacts on last November and I haven't looked back. It killed the RSA extreme tramlining completely and here in Wenatchee and in frequent trips over snowy Snoqualmie and Blewett Passes w/frequent trips to rainy Seattle and frequent ski trips to really snowy Rossland Canada they worked excellently; and they are all seasons working just as well in the dry seasons.

They are also almost $100 US cheaper per tire than dedicated snows.

Think about it.
