I’m trying to resolve problem regarding winter tires for M35x (AWD).Car located in Minneapolis, MNSome people saying that winter tires is a must, even for the AWD and some arguing that this is a waste of money. I would appreciate any opinion in this respect

Welcome to NICO!

Summer and all-season tires are not very good in snow. They tend to harden and slip and slide in such conditions. The all-seasons may do a little better but are not substitutes for snow tires!

So, even with all-wheel drive cars, I would strongly recommend snow tires if you live in snow country. Like you do! Minneapolis is definitely in that category for much of winter.

Even relatively inexpensive snow tires are likely to do you better than any summer or all-season tires in snow.

I am speaking from experience with living in New Hampshire and I am sure that this is not as bad as where you live (from amount of snow perspective).
