I'm trying to remove my upper oil pan without pulling the motor. My question is will I have to pull the front drive shafts out of the engine/transfer case to get the oil pan off? Thank you, any advice you might have is always welcome

According to the FSM the whole Front Final Drive has to come out with all the shafts and axles, plus the subframe and starter motor. I'm a Nissan tech and not Infiniti, so I haven't done one, but from what I can see of the layout, I don't think you'll find many shortcuts. See EM-38 here:

Well I've got everything unhooked from the motor except the tranny and the drive axles. So I guess I've still got a few hours work ahead of me. Thanks for the help. It's a lot easier if you have a direction to go. Thanks much!

No clue. Like I said at the top, I haven't done one. Maybe one of the M mavens in here can help you out.

I only know how to unbolt the rear final drive, never worked on an X model and dealt with all that extra front stuff :(

Well I finally got the final drive housing down. Only bounced a little, lol. My car has 245,000 miles onit so I got bearings that were 1/100 ofam inch thicker. Guess what, too thick. Standard bearings still the right size. Well Made motor!
