hi can any one give me some pointers on this problem i was driving on the highway doing like 70 when my car went in to neutral. I was pressing the gas and the rpm was just going up but no movement when the car came to a stop I only had one gear so I creeped home I wasn't getting no other gear so I shut of the car and turned it back on and it started driving fine again had a check engine light on so i went to auto zone and got the code p1774 low coast brake solenoid valve function i called my mech and he said thats a big and expencive job i should change the camshaft sensor then see what happends I went researching online and found a maxima with the same problem he changed Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), 31935-8E006, a.k.a. Revolution Speed Sensor and the problem was gone. Can anyone tell me if they had this problem and what it could i do to the car drives fine for know i don't want my wife to get stuck while driving I'm hoping its a sensor thanks ronnie

How many miles on your car?

I haven't heard of this issue on this car before...but I would be inclined to try the VSS. If the car thinks its in neutral because of the VSS saying it is, the transmission could certainly think it's being given correct information when it's not.

As for the camshaft/crankshaft sensors...you can clean those (they usually are covered in tiny metal shavings) and see if that helps.

If you're going to change the VSS your part number should be: 31935-97X00 (old) or 31935-1XJ0C (new). Quite pricey though. Sadly though, the TSB number ITB10-006a recommends replacement of the valve body to resolve the issue.
