So its been approximately two weeks since Ive had my new Michelin MXV4 tires installed. In addition, Ive had an oil change and air filter(s) replacement. My wishful expectations were that I "may" even see a little bump in MPG, which Ive been averaging 21 blended.
To my horror, Ive seen a reduction in fuel performance down into the 17-18 range. Its been over a period of 4 tankfuls.
My first phone call was to the Infiniti dealer who told me that this is very normal for M's when the temperature drops into
the high teens and low 20 degree temps. His actual words were that "they dump fuel" when we see this type of temperature drop. He indicated that I would see an increase in MPG again as temps rise. Unfortunately March is a hell of a long ways away.
Does anybody else find this to be true with their M. Are there any adjustments that the dealer can do to bring me back to my previous range, even if it temporarily reduces performance.

This is true with M's (and all cars to a lesser degree), there is also the winter gas formula reducing mileage even when it is warm, so don't expect to see it really high until later than March.

Talk to seymore4 on this board. He can hook you up with a tune for more hp and better fuel consumption ;)

Im glad this happened to others - well not glad you lost MPG, just glad that I know it's not my imagination now. I took my M up to NY for the holiday week last month and my mileage plummeted as well. Apparently this car guzzles at low temps. Also, my tires lost a few pounds (29-30) and I had to inflate them back up to 35. Then after I got back home, the mileage went back to normal and I had to delfate my tires coz they were in the 40s!

msvara... had the M in today for a new key fob battery. Spoke to the gal at the service desk about this, and she concurred.
She indicated that many owners have had the same comments very recently. She mentioned nothing (didnt figure she would deviate from the company line) about the tune that seymore4 may offer. Excuse my ignorance, but how do I reach out to seymore4?
