Bought a used '07 M35X and found that it needs an entire new exhaust system, yikes! Was quoted $2,800 with Infinity parts. Is there an aftermarket exhaust that can be used on the M's, (maybe I should phrase that question this way) - should I even look at aftermarket exhaust systems or stay with the Infiniti parts?

Found this on-line but don't know anything about this company or brand:

http://www.stillen.com/product/exhaust/ ... 11945.html

I don't have the equipment or technical know-how to install the parts myself.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello,

This question has been discussed many times. There is Megan, Stillen, Magnaflow mufflers, custom one-off exhausts. If you search for some of those names at the top of this webpage, you should be able to find many many threads.

Also, there is the FAQ thread where this is discussed.

Ilya provided all the info you need to search with. I would just add that a second opinion on the repair may be in order. My 07 had nearly 100,000 miles on it and the original exhaust system was just fine. I, too, am not a mechanic but it seems odd that the 'entire exhaust' system would need replacement.

Is that the NicoClub facebook page? Or do the M's have a separate group?

When you were quoted the price for an entire new exhaust system, did they provide a breakdown of what is actually needed??? ie, Catalytic Converters, y and Mid pipes, resonators, mufflers...? Does your car sound terrible???
