M35x driver's side door problem

I have a 2006 M35x, and when the temperature outside dips below 20 degrees my driver's side door latch freezes up and I can't close the door, so when I hit the lock button, the door will close, but the handle won't work, and I am literally trapped in my car, after about 40 minutes, the door latch mechanism finally will work, it's very frustrating. Has this happened to anyone else on the forum, and do you have any suggestions to fix this problem?

Yep, my 2011 has this issue but only if I have recently washed the car, etc.

You might try figuring out a way to lube the handle mechanism or maybe get some WD-40 in there to displace any water that might be trapped which is freezing/re-freezing.
