Hey guys,

I recently had D2 coilovers installed on my 2008 M35 and had a few questions. How do I reach the damper controls on the rear? Can they be reached from the trunk with ease or are they behind the seat? I saw when they installed it that the top part of the coilover went inside this covered area, and I'm not sure where it ended up at.

Also, what damper settings are you all running? Right now I have 18 in the rear and 20 something in the front. I would like to find the perfect set-up before I can move on. I want a setting that wont rub and rides like stock.

Another thing, now that I dropped the car, I feel that my headlights are not high enough. I'm sure there's a way to raise them up, but is there a DOT standard for headlight height I can go by (with fog lights as well)?

The rear coilover needs to be removed in-order to adjust them. I think I have my set at 16. This depends on how low or high you have the car set up as.

The rubbing has to do with your tire set up (offset & size). This can be also worked with pulling the fenders or with camber or both.

The lower you go the more you'll have to adjust your headlights. The dealer can do this for you for both headlight & foglights but I don't know what the charge would be $$$.

How low did you drop it? If you're unsure measure the distance from the ground to the center of the fender. In order to adjust the rears you will have to remove the shock to adjust dampering. Im on D2 bags and started at 22F 20R now I put the fronts stiffer at 28 and it feels planted to the ground. I will change the rears to 26 soon once I get time to remove them. IDK the difference fbetween your coilover stiffness compared to mine but the fronts are easy to adjust. If you just got them on, drive it for a while before you change the rears, that way you wont do a lot of adjustments. I was asking on another forum if anyone has drilled holes in order to adjust dampering from the trunk or wherever it would come out of but no one seems to have done it yet. I may look at the schematics and try to see if its even worth drilling into or not. As for headlights I had to raise mine once I put on springs. I can look for one of my old post's to tell you what I set mine to for height but it depends on how low you went. Ohh and for the fogs you can raise them all the way and it wont do much for you or the oncoming traffic, just fyi.

Good information, thanks guys. Wow, that sucks that you have to take out the coilovers to adjust the dampers in the rear. Right now, I changed my front dampers to and have 18 in the rear. I'll see how this set-up works first before any adjusting. I think I'll end up taking my car to the dealer for headlight adjustments once I need to go back for the oil change. I'll let you know the drop height I did on my car soon. Thanks!

You can adjust your headlights with a screwdriver withn 10-15 minutes just fyi, for the fogs it will be more work and really isn't going to change much of the output. Idk how much the dealer will charge but just keep that in mind.
