Has anyone replaced a windshield on an M35 with the LDW with the non LDW windshield? The cost is about $400 vs $1200 for the LDW. I really don't care if the LDW works or not, I just don't want it to beep continuously. Its annoying when it does work regardless. Thoughts?

Lane departure is pretty worthless, but I thought that that windshield also allowed the adaptive cruise control to work?
ACC is really valuable, so I would check to see if that's effected. I recently replaced my windshield and I sympathize with the outrageous price. Good luck!

Do they work together? I thought the adaptive cruise sensor was in the bumper and independent.
I learned something new today.

I believe the ACC is actually just below the front bumper on the lower grill. I live in Canada so having a windshield longer than a couple years is very rare due to all the gravel on roads in winter.
I would rather pay $300 every couple years and just forego the LDW. Just wondering if there would be any issues with the non-LDW windshield.

Found out more info on a search through the forum. Replacing windshield with the non-LDM glass just disables the LDM. Good. Its annoying anyway. Good ridance.

Yeah, I just found the thread: lane-departure-warning-ldw-not-working- ... 40763.html

Agreed! There is no sense paying $1 extra for that feature.

@GQM - it cost the $100 deductible. It was annoying because I had a very small star crack that the shop split when they were trying to fix it. One of the guys let slip afterwards that it was small enough to ignore (it was as shallow as a paper cut, really tiny).

If the non-LDW glass uses the matrix strip at the top, and not a solid strip, then LDW will not completely be disabled. It will still beep - at the most random times.

This is the matrix I refer to:

For anyone with this feature I would suggest Geico insurance for $1 or $5 extra a month they'll replace any all your glass with no deductible for any crack/chip/break.

Here in Kommiefornia, there is no such thing. Want glass through your insurance? Pay the deductible first on your comprehensive plan, and it goes on your record...

That is what I have on both mine and my wife's cars. We had her windshild get cracks from rocks a few years ago twice in the same winter. Had them replaced both times with no money out of pocket.

The coverage is an additional $1 per month I believe.
