Actually, that is right where I started! Excellent resource having those Service Manuals available here. I can at least figure out what each of the wires should be doing. Just haven't been able to get any movement from any of the windows.
The book value on the car is only $2800, and it is our 4th car, so I'm trying to minimize the financial damage. You might be right though if they just diagnose it for me for $160. May have to go that route unless someone is brilliant enough to help me just get the windows back up.Larz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2017 8:02 pmI would take it to the dealer. Why keep guessing and buying things that might not fix it? The dealer can tell you exactly what it needs and you don't have to get it repaired there. They may charge you for the inspection, but at least you will know what parts it needs. Then you can shop at places online like Infiniti Parts Online and do the repair yourself.
Looks like all roads may lead to the dealer. I'm really hoping that it is not the BCM. I already called to see how much they would charge to replace that and the quote was $1250 (including all of the programming). You can see why at this point I am willing to settle for the compromise of just getting the windows back up versus paying the price to get them fully operational. Will try and jump them myself tonight or tomorrow, and I guess off to the dealer/CONSULT if I fail.....EdBwoy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:18 amI assume you've already done the usual disconnect battery to reset computers sequence. It sounds like a goofy body control module to me, or power window module... since all 4 are misbehaving in unison.
The only way I can think to roll up the windows, is to jump each motor and give them the voltage to go up. This is much easier for the back where the door harnesses can be easily pulled... although I think this is one of those things CONSULT can trick the car to do.
*I wouldn't worry too much about the relative cost of diagnosis so far. $160 to diagnose window issues once in a lifetime isn't too bad compared to how much you could spend on annual oil and filter changes. Heck, next time you buy tires you might be at 20% of the then bluebook value.
