2006 M35. The Power Windows stopped working about 2 years ago. Spent some time troubleshooting it but it could not find a solution. Since the windows were up, my son has just been driving it that way. A couple of weeks ago my son went out to the car, and all four windows were down!? Windows still do not operate, but you cant really drive it anywhere and leave it with the windows down. Have checked all of the fuses, and I have power to the Master Switch. The Power Locks on the switch work, but none of the windows. Ordered another master switch; installed it yesterday, and the same result of power locks work, but power windows do not. Not going to take it to the dealer and throw a bunch of money at it, but at this point I don't think there is an easy solution. I would be interested in any ideas the forum might have to help me at least get these windows back up, and perhaps how to keep them that way.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you had a chance to download the factory service manual (FSM) located on this site (see my signature)? I'd start with that...might have some more troubleshooting steps for you to try.

Actually, that is right where I started! Excellent resource having those Service Manuals available here. I can at least figure out what each of the wires should be doing. Just haven't been able to get any movement from any of the windows.

I would take it to the dealer. Why keep guessing and buying things that might not fix it? The dealer can tell you exactly what it needs and you don't have to get it repaired there. They may charge you for the inspection, but at least you will know what parts it needs. Then you can shop at places online like Infiniti Parts Online and do the repair yourself.

The book value on the car is only $2800, and it is our 4th car, so I'm trying to minimize the financial damage. You might be right though if they just diagnose it for me for $160. May have to go that route unless someone is brilliant enough to help me just get the windows back up.

The dealer does have the CONSULT device which can do all sorts of things like test the 'grid' if I recall. Might be worth throwing $160 their way.

I assume you've already done the usual disconnect battery to reset computers sequence. It sounds like a goofy body control module to me, or power window module... since all 4 are misbehaving in unison.

The only way I can think to roll up the windows, is to jump each motor and give them the voltage to go up. This is much easier for the back where the door harnesses can be easily pulled... although I think this is one of those things CONSULT can trick the car to do.

*I wouldn't worry too much about the relative cost of diagnosis so far. $160 to diagnose window issues once in a lifetime isn't too bad compared to how much you could spend on annual oil and filter changes. Heck, next time you buy tires you might be at 20% of the then bluebook value.

Looks like all roads may lead to the dealer. I'm really hoping that it is not the BCM. I already called to see how much they would charge to replace that and the quote was $1250 (including all of the programming). You can see why at this point I am willing to settle for the compromise of just getting the windows back up versus paying the price to get them fully operational. Will try and jump them myself tonight or tomorrow, and I guess off to the dealer/CONSULT if I fail.....

If they can, might as well roll them up and disconnect the window plug from the switch, right? And you can buy a used BCM online if it comes to it. Keep us posted.

Took it to the dealer. Confirmed it is a bad BCM. Used ones are as low as $20 on Ebay, but the dealer wants $1200 to install a new and reprogram everything. Too rich for my blood. Wish I could just get the windows back up (no luck jumping one yet)....

Why are you having trouble jumping out the motors?
The door panels are not hard to remove...

So they couldn't roll up the windows using the CONSULT tool?

And true, I mentioned the rear door harnesses because I was thinking opening the door, popping the harnesses from the door jamb/ B pillar and jumping the pins on the plugs.
However, the door panels themselves aren't that bad, just a little longer of a process... but definitely more certain you don't touch the wrong pins. I'd go for the panels.

I have only torn the drivers door open. Put 12 Volts to the pins to the window motor; nothing. Forgot to try and reverse the probes, so still need to try that. Can't believe the motor is bad since all 4 windows have the same problem. Car is in the Sacramento area.
