I'd say the "M" won by a TKO but suffered a huge left swollen black eye with lacerations all down the left side of the face. Hopefully your cars medical insurance has a low deductable.

As for mail, I'd recommend a post office box immediately.

Damn Sam! That was a pretty good amount of speed too, it seems. (A little more than 20 maybe?)

What distracted you from staying between the ditches?

It takes some cajones to put up a note like that and tell a board like this that you fuffed up. I feel for you man...

Hope it works out best it can.

That sucks man.

From the pictures that looks pretty cut and dry. Did you get cited?

That does not look like it was a run ride over the curb. Lucky for you though you were off center enough you didn't hit it dead on which would have done some serious damage.

On a semi related side note. I remember a childhood friends father who had a few larger mailboxes destroyed by cars, teens, and cars with teens. His answer was to build a reinforced concrete structure that stopped a Chevy Cavalier in it's tracks. Good ole Mass country roads.

I'm glad it was a mailbox and not a cyclist, pedestrian or some kids playing in the yard.

Just out of curiosity, what was so important that caused you to take your eyes off the road for "a second"?

There really isn't any excuse for a lapse of attention like this while operating a 4000# projectile is there?

Tell me you weren't looking at your phone/blackberry/iphone at the time....

This really is one of the biggest risks to all of us. Some states have seen the light and outlawed handheld phone use while driving, but it needs to include any use of a handheld (texting comes to mind). While I was driving home from work last week I was horrified to watch a young woman in the car behind me. She was talking on a headset while looking at her phone and then writing down notes on a piece of paper! She almost rear-ended me twice within a span of about 2 minutes.

People need to smarten the F up and realize that DRIVING IS NOT A MULTITASKING OPPORTUNITY.

Hey, let's go easy on our bro here. I'm sure that he has learned a good lesson about attending w/no one being hurt and he has the cojones to share his "stupid (to quote our President)" mistake w/us.

Thanx guy-it happens to the best of us. Let he who is without similar "stupid" acts throw the first stone...

Come on man, you're going to tell me you never take your eye off the road while driving? If so, I'm calling BS. The guy had an accident, it happens. If he was playing with his phone or something like that, then we have problems.

Wow sory to see this. I am surprised how close they are built to the curb. You can basically hit it with your mirror without going on the curb. Hope you get your car back to 100% soon. It looks like quite a good amount of damage. Maybe 6-7k.

the mail boxes are right on the curb so if you don't watch out you will hit the front like i did and they are made to break away like that so you don't kill yourself. i was not texting or anything like that so you tree huggers can quit on that subject. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. Just tought you guys would like to see what can happen and I pray it doesn't happen to any of you.

Wierd how that fender just peeled off like that. Almost looks like someone unscrewed it from the car after the hit. Hope the rest of the M does not just come apart in an accident.

OK, so now we know what your neighbor charged you for his mailbox and his pain and suffering. But what about your M?

Wow man. You must have hit it harder than the damage seemed. I'm guessing the tire took most of the impact. It would make sense then.I hope it all gets fixed correctly.
