M35 V M45

I'm sure this has been discussed at length on this forum, but I would still appreciate some dialog with anyone who can give idea of how much difference there is between the 35 & 45. I am looking at the sport model in both.

I am trying to decide between an M35, M45, BMW 550, and BMW 530.

I lean towards the M45 for reliability, performance and price, but wonder if there is really much noticeable difference in performance between the 35 & 45. If so, is it on light to light, passing, top speed, etc?

Any feedback would really be appreciated.

I think the 530 should be eliminated from your decision all together... it's a "company car." Not an enthusiasts car. If you want to save some money over the 550, take a look at the new 535... it uses that new twin-turbo 6 BMW is getting so much praise for.

The M45 will save you money over both, and give you similar features... however a BMW is a BMW... drive all of them and make you choice based on the car you love. You'll make the right choice.

i own a 03 M45.....but out of the cars you listed, id pick the 550.

The M35 and M45 are basicall identical save for the motor. Do you want what many have called the best v6 on the planet? Or do you want a torquey v8 with another 60hp ? I have the M35 with the Sport Package and love it. It's very quick and I don't really miss having a v8, especially at the gas pump.

I used to own a BMW and I'm all done. The Bangle cars look goofy and are full of unnecessary and unreliable technology that costs a fortune to fix. I suppose if you were just going to lease one for a few years that part wouldn't matter as much. The 5 is going to provide a marginally better driving experience and either one will be faster than the comparable M (comparing the 6 to the 6 and 8 to the 8).

What are your needs and goals ? Are you buying or leasing ? How long do you keep your cars ? How close are both dealers ?

Them BMW's are no joke especially that 550...man that thing is fast...but i think pound for pound...with price, features and engine the Infiniti wins ..hands down
