Hey everyone.

Just got my first M35 two days ago. I Love it however with the 19in Sport wheels looking so nice I want to get wheel locks. I did a bit of research and ordered some Gorilla Guard Locks 12mm x 1.50 RH. Per their site they would fit. However when they got here they are too long and would stick out and dont want to thread smoothly. The factory lug nuts are very stubby and I am not so confident on the thread size anymore. Can anyone please assist.

12mmx1.25. Do no use the one you have or it will strip the thread. Be careful with your wheels. With low profile tires, you can easily damage the edge of the wheels. Each wheel cost @ $800.

Most of the aftermarket wheel locks are long and protrude beyond the wheel surface. Better buy from Infiniti (more expensive t.hough).

Welcome to the M forum Sorry to hear about your luck with the locks. Not forcing them on their is one of the best possible scenarios. I have seen some people take an impact gun and try to force them on and when it doesn't work on one they take the gun to a few more studs. Until the entire thing must be removed and all the studs must be replace.

This is great information, did you have this go wrong in the past? I've seen these get messy.

Another benefit to buying the OE ($40) is the dealer has a master set in the event that you loose your key they can get it off without having to damage your wheels.

Thanks for the replys.

I'm just concered that the 12mm isn't the right thread since it was acting like it was going to crossthread. I know I had 12mm x 1.5RH but would 12mm by 1.25RH make any difference the thread is the same just .5in shorter right?

Yes you cannot mix thread pitches. The difference of .5" is significant.

You need 12x1.25 thread locks, or nuts or anything you mount to the studs.

Using anything other than that, either higher or lower will cause irreparable damage.

Using the wrong lug nut may be good for the local economy. Eventually, the studs will break - parts will be replaced and somebody has to do it for @ $75/hr. Sort of mini stimulus package.

Just like Mercedes Benz is good for the world economy. They still build safe and luxurious cars but forgot about the reliability aspect. They break a lot, parts are replaced and give steady income to the manufacturers, shippers, dealers, mechanics. etc.. And MB dealer charges much more than your favorite garage rate.
