Ive been doing some research and it seems that some people arent getting as good of numbers as they want, especially as the car is new... Some people that ive heard of are getting in the 12-15 range in city driving, even in the M35...

Even in our grand prix we only got 15mpg combined for the first 3000 miles or so... until your car is fully broken in (around 5k) dont expect to see peak MPG numbers.. These nissan engines last a lifetime and tend to break in slowly... It has been hypothosized that on the Q45 motors (VH45) that they are at their peak performance at about 80-120k miles! The VQ will break in faster due to its looser clearance.....

Whatever the case is, Ryan who has a G35 averaged 27MPG according to the fuel center on our trip to atlanta, and we averaged 76MPH (you *know* what that means)

If you get bad MPG at first, dont worry it *will* improve!

Hi,

I finally got around to checking mine. It came up 15.8 mpg. I think that was mostly city driving and fairly little highway. That's on a 35sport.

How many miles do you have on the car? I would think it gets better with time and miles.

Just drove from Houston to Springfield, MO. I got 22 mpg according to the computer. I was kind of disappointed actually. My 911 Turbo got 24 mpg on road trips. I guess that's aerodynamics.

My car has 3000 miles on it.

I think youll see morpe like 25 as you get higher miles.... I also have a tendency not to believe computers.... i like to figure it out the old fasioned way.......

3000 miles is still considered not broken in fully, IMO

An older thread that also says a lot: zerothread?id=47364.

Wes, the computer on-board is pretty accurate - better than you can estimate between fill-ups, I would think. Since the ecu knows the rpm's, the injectors rate, etc., the calculated mileage (instantaneous rate) should be darn good!

Guys,

I reset my counter the other day. I told you all that I was doing about 15.5 with mostly city and some highway. I was WRONG. My wife reminded me that I had a good bit of highway in that estimate. 60 local 40% highway.

Anyway I reset at last gas fill, and have done 100% local stop and go traffic, with a half tank left, the car shows me at 11.5 mpg. OUCH.

I am 50 yrs old and seem to drive like an old man, so I know I am not jumping on it, so compared to the others, I am getting real poor milage. I always use 93 octane.

Someone send my a gas card

I have an M35x with 3K miles on it. Given the recent high gas prices, I have been very studious about accelerating slowly and keeping the car at 40 MPH or below when not driving on a highway. This has been relatively easy since my drive to work is less than 5 miles one way on local/county roads.

Under these local driving conditions, I have been averaging 17-18 miles on regular fuel and, as suggested here, it is continuing to improve.

On the one long (~1.5hr each way) highway trip that I made to date, the car had ~ 1500 miles and I averaged 24 MPG keeping my speed between 60-65 MPH.

Thanks... good to hear. Mine sucks so far... looking like around 12-14 around town. I'll keep my fingers crossed for something better than that!

I have a M35X (Tech & Journey) with 2,700 miles, and I don't lay off the pedal regardless of gas prices, traffic, etc. I use the computer to measure/track mileage at every fill up, and I do the mental math too, just out of habit.

In town - 15.5 mpgHighway (2 trips of 500+ miles each with cruise set at 70 mph) - 22.5 mpg

Highway doesn't bother me too much, but in town is definetly a disappointment. Even if the engine opens up with mileage, I'd be surprised to see the 17 mpg for in town that the sticker says.

Your highway cruise of 22.5 at 70mpg will definitely improve later! My two year old M45 gets better than that, now that it has almost 30k miles on it.

The in-town value should rise too. WIth about 60%/40% highway/city driving, I get 17 to 18 mpg (depending on weather, etc.) When my wife has the M45, she only drives city streets (no highway at all) and gets 15 to 15.5 mpg pretty easily.

I've got a M35 Sport with 3600 miles. I'm getting 16.8 mpg so far
