I was on business travel for a few days this week in Albuquerque, NM and had a flight that landed in the early afternoon and I wan't expected at the site 90 minutes away until the next morning. Standing at the Hertz counter with at least the afternoon to blow I upgraded from a mid-size whatever to a 2008 M35 and decided to drive the scenic route to Socorro. It turned into about a 4 hour drive with a couple of stops to take in the sights.

The M35 was a very nice car. It had many of the features of the G50 including tilt down rear view mirrors, 6 way seats, retracting seats and steering column at shut off, and a couple more features that I don't recall. A few new items that stood out were heated/cooled seats, remote key lock/unlock and start (key never leaves your pocket), nav, and I think synthetic leather upholstery. Overall a very comfortable and sporty car that got a lot of looks from the locals, many of whom had probably never seen one it that neck of the woods.

There were a few long, deserted stretches of highway where it was clearly popo-free and safe enough to open her up. I was being cautious for most of the drive since I got a speeding ticket on my last trip to NM. As nice (and new) as the M was, my 15 year old Q accelerates quicker and gets up to 100 mph much faster. The M seemed to be straining. Despite my criticisms, the M35 was a great car that any one of us Q owners would be happy to own. Oh, and I saw an FX35 in the rental lot when I returned the M this morning. I think I know what I'll be upgrading to on the next trip.

M50 ought to be real interesting. Didn't miss the VLSD on the dusty roads?

Nice Mike.

I've been curious about the M35. Even considering lowering my standards and taking a position at Holman Infiniti just to get a chance to take one out for a spin.

Still happy with my G50.
