Couple Questions if anyone can help me out.

I'd like to start of my saying this forum is awesome, lots of useful information. Lots of knowledgeable M enthusiast hopefully you guys can help me out with some of these questions:

1. What is the best intake for the M35 ?

2. Has anyone installed a meagan dual tip exhaust system (catback or axleback) if so how is it, notice any differences? and what are your thoughts, Ive seen alot of posts of the stillen exhaust but im not a fan of the single tips.

3. Anyone that did a cai and exhaust upgrade, what did you notice (positive aspects and negative if any) (gains/loses)

Thanks in advance. Any positive input or thoughts on these questions would be appreciated.

ill answer these as best i can;

1.) i recommend a popcharger, for which youd require a oem z tube and maf tube, and a popcharger filter+shield. works great for me. had this on my g sedan, and my z prior to turbo. with the vq35de, there was heatsoak issues with cold air intakes so a simple filter, or regular ntake was he best solution.

2.) several members on here have the meagan setup. from what i recall they love it. its truly an impressive system. sounds good, and has very good quality welds, and construction, especially where its priced at.

3.)i have an intake/spacer on mine so far. i have a custom exhaust going on in spring, but until then, ill just relate to the intake. i've noticed a mpg increase. this would probably be increased with an exhaust because id be getting air into and out of the motor more efficiently, as well as a modest power bump.

for best performance and MPG after you do these mods, get an UpRev tune. This will maximize your modifications gains and make the engine run more efficiently.

what exactly is a pop charger? you mean like a short ram intake?

And can you please give me some links of where i could purchase all these things? pics would also be a big help if anyone has done this on there M.

Also how much does it cost to get an Uprev tune done?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure everything out before making purchases.

popcharger you can find for z/g applications. i used the maf/z tube leftover from my z and hooked it up with a filter and adaptor. popcharger is pretty much a short ram intake lol.

the uprev is about 350-500 i believe

I had a G35 in the past and put a Fujita Short Ram intake on it and really liked the quality of the kit. I didn't want to mess around and get left-over Z parts (aka Z tube) so I went with the whole setup. When I sold the G I ended up leaving the intake with it... I totally regretted that seeing as the Intake fits the M as well. Needless to say, I spent the extra money and picked up another. As far as power... not sure how much it gives... but It does seem to rev free-er and sound a whole lot better.

Here is a link to an ebay auction (its not my auction, but just being put here as a reference). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fujita-S ... 1329wt_939

As far as the Megan exhaust. I wish someone would post videos or some better pictures. I want to get that one as well because I like the quad exhaust look.

People always tend to brag about plenum spacers... if your looking for more power out of the 35, I would say look into that as well. I have not done a spacer in the past, yet I did have a Kinetex plenum on my G... It looked great to me and supposedly gave me a few more ponies... Never did manage to make it to a dyno.

in all reality, having years of experience with both my z's, and multiple vq35 platforms, bolt ons wont really free up alot of power. especially on an auto. you have to start diving into cams, aggressive cam timing, and serious longtube headers for some n/a power. look up sg motorsports for reference.

It regards to Plenum spacer what would be the best one for the M, also with short ram fujita intake and with catback meagan racing exhaust and an uprev of coarse, what gains can i potentially see with these upgrades? any info is appreciated.

i got a blox composite spacer, gained about 2mpg increase when coupled with my intake. im sure an uprev and free flowing exhaust setup will free up more mpg's

Its just a plastic composite that spaces the upper and lower plenum and equalizes air distribution to all cylinders. Adds modest bump in power as well as mpg. Its about 100 bucks, there are other metal spacers available such as aam, motordyne, etc. All great options in my opinion

In a cold climate, metal spacers are supposed to be better.

I dont know exactly the reason why, but my educated guess would be a non metal spacer would be affected by the cold temperature more and possibly become a tiny bit smaller as well as less durable. I think of it the same was as the valve cover gaskets I keep blowing out, when I push the car too hard in really cold temperatures, it blows out on me.

^that sucks lol. the iso thermal was supposed to be the best for heat dissipation. i bought the blox for the price, and to test it out. im putting a custom manifold on my m anyways

the spacer spaces out the front 2 cylinders from starving for air (on the vq35de which our m's come with), and helps equalize the flow to all the cylinders.
