Hello,

I recently purchased a certified 06 M35x w/46K on the clock.

Great car so far!

I have been searching through the forums a few days and have not found a comprehensive engine performance upgrade thread.

If I missed it, please feel free to point it out!

It seems the common wisdom is to add the following items;

1. Exhaust System2. Plenum Spacer3. K&N Filter4. Light weight pulleys5. Turbo charger(s) (very expensive)6. Super Charger( very expensive)7. Nitrous Oxide (25-75+ hp)

Did i miss anything?

The nitrous is a point of interest to me and I have heard mixed reviews about the application.

Is there someone with real world experience using Nitrous Oxide on the M35? If so, would they be so kind to give a newbie some advice?

I have reviewed the Nitrous thread but I am looking for some one who can address its application on the M35 specifically.

I’m NOT looking to drag race the car but the occasional squirt would be nice!

Any input is sincerely appreciated!

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

Welcome to NICO.

Number 3 (K&N filter) is one that the old-timers like myself are opposed to. It has been known to cause longer-term problems for Nissan/Infiniti engines ... specifically the MAF.

We may appose of the K&N air filter, but we will appraise you for adding a turbo!!!It might be a little expensive, but the gains will be well worth the costs! If you really want more performance, the turbo is the best way to go. -Supercharger takes power to create power. -NOS is only good until the bottle runs out. This would be ok for track only purposes. You can only hit the button so much on the street until you run the bottle empty. I would prefer the extra power on tap all of the time.-CAI intake kit, exhaust, and spacer will give you very minimal gains that will barely be felt.

Turbo wins! It creates the most power without using power. Oh, and you can always turn up the boost to get a little more power from it! Good luck with your decisions!

Thx for the quick responses. It's a pleasure to be a part of the forums!

OMG I put in a K&N filter yesterday.......lol

Is that $50.00 dollars down the drain?

Interesting the K&N would cause problems.

Is it a result of the increased air flow not jiving with the MAF perimeters?

Turbos are great. I owned three 87 Grand Nationals at one point. One was using a very large turbo (among other mods) for racing. Nothing sounds prettier then the spool of a turbo. Not to mention the efficient HP it produces.

If I remember right boost will produce on average 1.2 to 1hp over an increase in compression.

In any event I really want to try nitro with those cool purge kits. Image setting them to blow out the front like a bull ready to charge.....lol

The K&N uses oil for its media filter to collect dirt and dust. The oil has been known to get past the media and into the intake tube. Once this happens it will get onto the MAF meter internals. It will cause the MAF to give inaccurate readings and or fail. A CAI kit using an oil less air filter is preferred.

Ahh very clever

So that why every one is using the Injen system.

I would like to use the Z-Tube with alternative (oil free) high flow filter but i don't see any out there. Not to mention im not sure the Z-tube would transfer from the G35 application.

Is the 75hp wet NOS shot viable with the M35?
