So, I'm resurrecting this thread (hey, it's Easter :)) - what's the consensus for an exhaust that provides the most power but won't upset the neighbors and the wife? I'm leaning towards the Megan axle back + midpipe, but also considering going with just the megan axle back (or maybe magnaflows) and then having my local shop make the rest custom. Again, I want to keep things somewhat sedate but don't want to sacrifice much power (and yes I know we're talking about 3-5 hp on an untuned car). Is an X-pipe the way to go? I think the flowmaster option is just too raucous. I like it, but my m45 will sound like every other F-150 with glass-packs on it---No thanks. I prefer a bit more refined sound.

Thoughts?

I did true duals, custom catback an X where the first muffler/resonator sat then magnaflow mufflers out back with a modified dual tip.

I don't know if embedded youtube links work but I will see.

This is an 03 M45 I wanted it quiet enough for daily driver with a nice sound.

I went with the Megan exhaust for my M35x. Doesn't sound like a rice burner. I had the same concern as you before getting my exhaust. I got the Kinetix high flow cats, G37 Y-Pipe and Megan Catback. It was between the Megan and Stillen for me.

Just throwing it out there for you guys if sound and a little performance is all your after well then you can't go wrong with my setup especially at only $700 installed! Headers would be a nice touch but for my 04 m45 I doubt they make a set but my exhaust is simple high flow cats,X pipe , dual flowmaster 50 mufflers.I know what you're thinking" it's not a chevy" right its a nissan but it's also a v8 and if you want that sweet Ferrari like sound with a little throat at the end it's the only way to go or you can be a rice burner and buy a bolt on kit

I ordered megan axle back. I just like the look of them and want a bit more noise. Gone to back order as megan are out of stock 4-5 weeks through fr sport.

Hey guys.... I recently purchased a 2007 M45 and love it but it was just too quiet for me. I went to a local muffler shop and asked them if I could hear the car with a muffler delete and it was still too quiet. I ended up chopping off the resonators and put a 2.25" straight pipe with staggered dual tips and it sounds amazing especially manually down shifting but the only problem is the in cabin drone is horrible. I'm going back and probably going to have them put in high flow resonators. They charged me $200 for resonator / muffler delete / 2.25" piping and two dual chrome staggered tips($45 each) for those that are curious. I'll update you guys after the new resonators are installed.

Ok, so I am off to talk to shops this week about getting a cat back made for my car (06 Fuga 450 == M45)). Looking around it seems all the aftermarket ones are 2.5 inch, and it seems the factory pipes are 1.75 inch.

Is 2.5 inch too big, will the pipe loose flow velocity at that diameter? Does anyone know the output pipe size of the factory Y-Pipe? And any thoughts on replacing the Y-pipe with custom as well?

So an update, I have my 2006 Fuga 450 booked in for a new exhaust on Friday, removing the stock Y-Pipe, and replacing with a 2.5 inch pipes down to a X-pipe and out to dual mufflers (with resonators in the middle section) so fingers crossed :)

The photo below is from s 07 M45 Sport. Most M45 exhaust I have seen has 4 pipes. Is this after market or is there stock exhaust with 2 pipes?

That is aftermarket, and usually you change the whole muffler or delete it and replace with a single tip. I can't tell which brand muffler it would be though.

Its a Stillen exhaust. How do I know? It was my car! Traded it in for a GS-F 2 weeks ago at Lexus of Rockville.

If anyone is the new owner, I can tell you all about it and have some left over parts and accessories.
