also, I was driving a 1996 I30 before and was only getting around 23-23 mixed driving, and maybe 25-26 highway. perhaps you are just a bit easier on the pedal.
I'm actually the lead foot of my family. The I35 cruises at 75-80mph which equates to 2500-3000 rpm. I got a solid 28.9MPG on a recent trip at that speed. They must have made some pretty substantial changes to the gear ratios on the M35 in order for the fuel mileage to suffer that badly. I'm still strongly favoring the M due to its lower cost in comparison to the GS 300/350. The depreciation on the 2006/2007 M is crazy for such a high quality luxury sedan.
