M35 Change ATF at 30K, 40K, or 60K?

Just purchased a 2006 M35 about a month ago and wondering if I should go ahead and to the ATF.

Already planning to do the following:1. Coolant Flush2. Change Differtial Fluid3. Fuel Injection Service4. Air Filter

Maintenance manual suggest to change ATF on premium schedule, but some of it seems like overkill at 32K mi. Car in Texas now, but came from Palm Beach, FL.

Get ATF Flush every 30K miles starting at 30K.

Had mine done at 38K...they said the fluid was pretty dirty when they emptied it.

If you do a transmission flush outside Infiniti dealership, make sure you keep the receipt. Some shops will refuse an ATF flush beyond 85,000 miles, unless it can be proven it has been flushed previously.

I would wait until at least 45K to do the transmission flush. Or, you can do a transmission fluid replacement (drain and fill) every 30K.

Coolant flush is scheduled at 45K, but since it is a 2006 and 3+ years old, it is a good idea to get it done now.

That is what I do and recommend too. Nissan and Infiniti transmissions will last longer (i.e., well past the 100k mark) when you do this regularly ... it is a good maintenance habit.

Remember: transmission replacements are expensive! Once out of warranty, this could be the most expensive repair you ever have to do to your car.

And, as always, remember not to use standard ATF ... you must use the Nissan required one to make sure that the transmissions does not die (and/or the warranty is not voided).

Exactly! I just done a drain & refill yesterday with Dex-VI. The M1 atf had 36k on it. Since my transmission has a lot of miles on it (check the signature), I plan on doing a drain and refill every 15k from this point forward. I can drain the oil and the transmission fluid at the same time.

Fluid manufactures have long since identified what the ingredients were in J-matic and there are plenty of substitutes. There are other threads (I don’t remember right now where) that give the exact make up of J-matic and what other fluids have the same ingredients. I just had my 06 M35’s fluid changed at 60,000 miles by a local transmission shop (Automatic Transmission Factory in Davie, FL) that used Amsoil synthetic and a bottle of Lubeguard. What a huge difference! The transmission shifts smoother when I drive nice, but kicks harder when I jump on it. I never expected these kinds of noticeable results just from switching fluids.

2002 was a MAJOR MAJOR redesign for 4AT> 5AT. Impossible to compare to previous years besides just the thousands in extra cost and dual lock clutches for TC.

The point is the major factor causing vehicle trades is transmission abuse and warnings of potential failure expense.

When the ATF desaturates in color compared to sparkling brand new, time to replace................few drops on white paper towel tells the story.
