I know that these are a bit lower profile than the stock 245 40 18 vs 245 45 18.

Yoko "S" Drives? Must be new as I have never heard of them. Why do you want to run a 40 series tire over the 45?Unless the car is lowered it will not look that good. Plus it will make the car ride even rougher.Unless your only after a performance increase, I would stick with the 45-series tires. Also to add, say you have two identical branded and series tires. One was a 40 series and the other was a 45 series. Which one will net you better traction? The 45 series will due to having more flex in the sidewall of the tire to absorb the torque shock from acceleration. Though if you just have to have that tire and that's the only profile available, then I understand that too. Hope this helps you make your decision.

I am running Sdrives on my 02 Maxima. I love those tires, very quiet, I put it on for the wife complaining of road noise. Now she only hears the wind noise and a lot less about 80% less road noise. I used to complain when she would call me ont the phnoe driving, I could not hear her well. We had Khumo Ecsta's before.

No experience with S.drive but I will be putting them on in a few months. My current tires are about shot. I did my research early and found that s.drive is good and cheaper alternative to Michelins/Pirelli. It has very good road noise rating which is one thing I don't like abt the OEM bridgestones. I will be going for 245/40/19 since mine is an M35 Sport.

The reason I am asking is that I have there on my Q45 and like them a lot. Also Tire Rack gives them top marks in their category. I am wondering whether a 40 profile tire would be too rough on an M35 base model. Anybody running very low profile tires on their M35.

I can't comment on the S Drive, but I have 245-45-18 Yokohama Avid W4s on my 2003 M45 and they are the best tire I have driven on to date. I was pretty much always a "Michelin guy" but I will look at Yoko's for the wife's EX when it's time. The Avids are very quiet and stick like velcro. They have about a 440 wear rating, and still look great after 14K miles (so far). I rotate every 5K.

Using 40's instead of 45's will also throw your speedo off a little, and it will ADD more miles to the odo over time than you actually have on the car (you might record 103 miles on the odo for every "actual" 100 miles you drive - example only) This could hurt resale over time, OR cost you more at lease termination time... something to consider.
