Hey guys,

I recently bought a 2010 M35. It's a great car but I don't like that I can't play DVDs or use a sad card or USB. Has anyone changed their radio or does anyone know if it's possible or reported problems? I'm just scared it can't be done or if so it'll be an arm and a leg.

There are plenty of upgrades here to aftermarket systems. iPods, DVD, computers, stereos. Just do a search. Most people here don't upgrade the main stereo for fear of loosing nav, phone, and other voice features, but there are a few ways around that. Since you are not really asking anything specific in ways of direction, the simple answer is yes the av system can be upgraded with no worries. It's only an arm and a leg depending on what you want, and if you have to pay someone else to do the whole thing. I don't know, but keeping it simple might be around $500 equipment and labor.
Maybe your best bet would be get one of those new iPods. Play video, radio, and music, and tie that into your system. Then you can keep your limbs.

There are, as stated above, many options and upgrades that members have done. You can find some of them in the FAQ thread near the top of the forum.

I don't use an I-pod, or USB. Instead I burn my music onto CDs in the following way:
All of my music is saved on my home comp and linked to my main stereo with peakers all over the house. Because the music is saved on my comp (an ext drive with over 1gig of music), I use the standard Windows Media Player, amd I set it to burn a DATA CD, instead of MP3 files. That way, I can fit nearly 100 tracs on each disc which gives me about 600 tracs in my disc player. You can use the center knob on the dash to scroll through each CD or just set it to play them each, one CD at a time. I have a blues CD, a rock CD, an electronic dance CD, etc.

Also, many of our M's came with a satellite tuner installed. If yours did, you just need to call the XM peeps and have it activated. They usually give you a three-month trial period for free without even providing any credit card info.
