before you pro forum users bite my head off, I did search and could not find what i am looking for...so please help, or attach a link or something.

I have played CDs in the player with no problems for a while, and now all of a sudden i get a "disc read error" message when trying to play the same CDs. Any thoughts?? I appreciate the help....p.s. no i don't want to take it to the dealership.

I found a thread from this dude that fixes it...ill send it to you when i find it again. You have do de-insall your stereo, sned it to california, they fix it, charge u $225, and send it back to you only to have to re-install it. What a pain in the a**...it just happened to me, so I am going to check with a couple local guys before forking over the 225... stay tuned for the link, i have some work i gotta get done real quick.

So there are two options from what I've figured out. There is a 3rd party guy that was actually referred by the dealership that refurbishes your malfunctioning player for around $325. The dealership would do it for $625. I have a DVD player in the car that is currently acting as the CD player. Eventually I'll get it fixed, but neither of those price points excites me for a factory cd player.

My M35 disc player has the read error message. I have a factory DVD player in the glovebox, presumably for the navigation system, which uses manual discs to update maps. Are you saying that will work to play CDs through stereo?
