Looks like it's because the oil is more viscous it takes a while. Try to change the transmission fluid. Synthetic must help. It takes cold weather easier.

I was told that I auto trany should never have the oil changed! One of my freinds is a Ford Mech, and he told me that it was a bad dea to do that! I was thinking about changing the oil but I m on the fence about it?

Then why do they make transmission fluid, transmission filters, and have drain plugs on the bottom of the transmission pans?

I cannot say anything about Fords but I believe oil change and filter replacement/ cleaning is a 30000 miles maintenance procedure. I personaly did it on my car.

transmission fluid breaks down jus like engine oil. minus the sludge, it loses viscosety and can become burnt. changing the fluid is also part of the regular scheduled maintinence either 30k or 60k not sure wich. if ur freind is telling u they dont do it at the ford dealership. its cause "its a ford thing" Fix On Roadside Daily... and many other sayings. its good habit to change fluids.

im not a transmission guy so im not gonna say that will fix ur problem. but as i said it is good for ur trans to have fresh fluids.

change the fluid, filter and gasket.

you can get the spec on http://www.f31club.com for how much fluid or what not.

I also believe there is a write up on there somewhere too.

or it could be the shift solenoids. from what I gather, this a common problem.
