I am currently having issues with overdrive on my autotragic 92 m30. It randomly works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes when you start the car the O/D light blinks and goes off and won't come back on even when I push the button on the shifter. Sometimes it doesn't blink and all and doesn't come on when pushing the button. Sometimes it comes on and works perfectly fine, or works perfectly fine then just randomly shuts off going down the road which causes the car to go into what I would assume is 2nd. Kind of scary on the interstate to go from 3k to 6k rpms randomly.

I have read around about transmission issues with these cars but I haven't seen anything dealing with the kind of issues I am dealing with. Just mainly hard shifting and solenoids burning out due to a drop resistor.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing these issues? Help would be much appreciated.

my only guess would be to have the trans flushed and have the 3rd and OD solenoids replaced. when my transmission was on its way out it would shift hard in to 2nd and then it started hunting between 3rd and OD constantly in traffic. then one day it would just not shift into 3rd or OD so i had to manually put it in 1 and 2 and drive slow as hell. i never really took the actual time to figure out what went bad. i just ended up doing a 5 speed swap on m J30.

fupersudge copy and paste your query in the 240sx section also since that era 240 and M30 where essentially the same car. M30 owners are few and far between in this forum. The M30 was never sold in Canada. In my lifetime, I've only seen one in Chicago, many, many, many years ago.
