My 18 year old daughter has a 1992 M30 with about 130,000 miles on it. A few days ago, she was in a parking lot, and banged the front bumper into a cement pillar. It cracked the plastic front bumper. A couple of days later, I noticed that the airbag warning light was blinking. Could that have caused something to go wrong with the airbag? Is it safe to drive the car with it like that, or is there a chance the airbag might inflate?

The car is old, and though it runs well, I'm not sure I want to go to a lot of expense. She only uses the car to drive back and forth to work, 2 miles each way. And very short trips around town. We have other vechicles we use to go longer distances.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If it is like the Q45, turn on the ignition, press the door sensor switch 5 times in 7 seconds, then turn the ignition off.

What is the door sensor switch and where is it located?

I agree with what brian said, its on the B pillar.. Youll see it, its a roundish black thing with a button.. with the door open you can see it and press it in and it will turn the interior lights off.

I found the button and tried it. But it didn't make any difference?

I can live with the light blinking, I just want to make sure that the airbag won't accidently misfire. Any chances of that?

yeah, looks like there she might have triggered a sensor.

the bumper support (holds the bumper in place) is somewhat in the middle of the car, 2 of them (each side held by 3 bolts) are right there near airbag "stuff". that lilttle jolt might have done something to shake it enough that the airbag sensor picked it up.

will it go off? Thats kinda of a scary question. It hasnt gone off yet, but if she jolts something again, it might... or the light might just be saying that the airbag is not functioning.

hope this helps
